Maybe parking areas could have electric suplies so fridgies could be plugged in overnight?
They still make almost as much noise on a plug-in.

They tried that on the A5 near Chirk, the drivers backed over the plugs and posts

You should try Michaelwood North daytime in a Stobart wagon! A magnet for all the fools with no consideration for the only wagon in the old truckpark and parks right next to me!! So I switched his reefer off and told him to foxtrot Oscar to another part of the park!! If you have to be told then maybe you shouldn’t be driving LGV’s

weds night i parked at michealwood services, therefore i woke up at 4 am thursday morning by a supermarket truck reversing in beside me with the fridge blasting away full pelt with a reversing bleeper going. i wasnt due to get up till 5am. [zb]..
Fair enough that he shouldn’t have had his reversing bleeper turned on, the rules about reversing bleepers are the same as about sounding a car horn at night, but having his fridge motor running is an entirely different matter.
Basically, all of that fruit and veg, and all of that frozen food that you and your missus buy doesn’t just walk to the supermarket while you are asleep. The Tesco Fairy doesn’t magic it there.
It’s bad enough having to explain this to the punters, but surely you are a truck driver too?
all i ask for is care and consideration to other drivers not zb you attitude, as it happens i sleep like a log and as long as the fridge is on constant fair enough. this driver went out of his way sqeezed into a space so he didnt have to walk to far to the garage.
not everyone is a heavy sleeper and some people struggle with sleep so this fridge driver could have ruined someones already troubled sleep so he didnt have to walk an extra 23 - 30 yards.as ive said ive done fridge work myself and always parked as far away from other lorries as possible.
if the fridge is there first then thats down to others to park away.
They shouldn’t do nights out then, simple. Chilled and frozen stuff still has to be delivered and the drivers still have to run to the same rules and regs as everyone else (with a couple of minor exceptions not worth mentioning) so the “can’t sleep” brigade should look closer to home for the real issue here…
Let’s get this into a bit of perspective, we all buy chilled food from our chosen supermarket, and we all do the same job. Every driver is required to have an overnight rest period and some of them are delivering perishables, don’t go switching the fridges off, you wouldn’t want food poisoning would you. Any driver doing it deserves a smack on the nose
i had a driver turn my fridge off and i had parked as far away from anyone as i could, i turn it back on and told him that i would be turning it off in a couple of hours (at 9) for the night, he then told me he would give me a CLUMP if i didnt turn in off now!!! so i got out of the cab so he could give me this CLUMP thing, he swung first but was so slow he didnt move before i kicked him in the nuts and bust his nose, he never complained about the fridge any more that night!

Bit odd that the panels are not behind a lockable door
I have one on at the moment and the plastic cover has the holes for a small padlock to go through
When ever i have one on i always park on my own and out of the way - then i drop it and pin lock it and park by the back doors for the night
i hate it when fridge drivers stop for a 45 and leave it running at night - you can leave it turned off for 45 minutes and it won’t drop by more than a few degrees - and if you watch it will drop by the same during a normal cycle - 1= -18 will drop to -15 almost everytime before restarting
there is no excuse unless its over night - and then find somewhere to stop where there is a fridge park
cheers
Steve

I wouldn’t recommend anyone turning someone else’s fridge off, it seem to be bad for the welfare
However, I carry perishable goods, mainly salads at 10C or 14C.
At this time of year, when the overnight temperature is no higher than 14C, it is a waste of diesel or electric to run the fridge.
In fact, it is better for the produce to be in still air, less chance of the front pallets getting too cold.

It is worth remembering that the box temperature sensor(s) are reading just that, the box temperature, not that of the cargo.
You have to apply a bit of common sense, a lot more fridges need to be left on when the outside temperature is very different to that of the cargo, ie when it’s very hot or very cold outside.
Supermarket trailers often have very different temperatures in several adjacent compartments.

They may have been attached to the ■■■■■ growing out of his forehead?
I pull fridges all the time and always try park up away from any other lorries, I even have a little sign that I put in the window that says in red letters “running fridge”, can’t do more than that but one night I was parked outside seatruck in Liverpool when a stobart truck pulls up right in front of me, after a few minutes the big fat ape that was driving it gets out and waddles over to me and tells me to turn it off or park somewhere else, needless to say I told him where to go and then put the fridge on constant to really annoy him! What goes on in someones head that he actually tought that I should move on even though I was there before him!
Yeah, in the RDC where I load one particular driver has problems with kids.
They have taken the handbrake off the truck, so when the air built up in the trailer the truck took off from the bay and smashed into a kerbing the far side of the yard.
They turn off his fridge and steal the diesel out of it.
They pulled the pin on his trailer so when he pulled out the trailer fell on its knees.
The picker fairy puts pallets in his spur for the shop he was going to after he had loaded and left.
Amazingly he believes all of this himself as truth. I mean, it couldn’t possibly be the fact that the driver hasn’t a clue as to what he’s doing…
