Keyfuels M1

Anyone know if Tibby, Trowell, Woodall or Woolley take keyfuels please? And what about Tamworth services?

Use the corridor search for Tamworth to Sheffield and all will become clear.

Success! Thanks. Tamworth, Trowell, Woodall and Woolley all are, but not Tibby.

On a related matter does anyone get why in 2021 some places still have separate pumps for keyfuels?

To keep pumps free for “cash” paying customers, maybe?

Any welcome break services will accept key fuels

Maybe… take Toddington South though, couple of Keyfuels pumps, other ones can be used for other bulk cards just not key fuels…

More to the point can anyone explain why they don’t have pumps with the payment machine on them, any wonder it takes so long to fill up. Go into the shop queue behind people who think it’s time to do their weekly shop, drop the card off fill up then queue again to pay, what should take no more than 10 minutes tops can turn into twice that

In some places Key fuel diesel comes from a different supplier and is kept in separate tanks. Not always the same quality as the “branded pump”, different additives etc.

In the original Keyfuels bunkering, the keyholder put an amount of fuel into the system and CH Jones would allocate it to the right place, so they probably rented tank space. Not sure how it works now.

Pay at pump is only available for normal payment cards. Fuel cards are on a different system. If you use a local place rather than an MSA, once they get used to you and recognise your truck they will authorise it without you needing to take your card in.

Why don’t the fuel stations fit those ■■■■ it up tubes like they had in hospitals and department stores, put your card in a sealed canister and it flees off up a tube to the the checkers desk. :stuck_out_tongue:

As a rule I never fill up in the UK but every MSA on the continent that I use is pay at the pumps even bunging in a 1000 litres can be done in 15 minutes without the faff of going into the building, although to be fair you get far fewer people doing their weekly shop at an MSA out there than in the UK

BP Bunker user, so a majority of the services are BP, many seem to have a separate Key Fuels pump and notices on other pumps to let you know. Certainly Oxford Services do, Lymm is another.

Lower spec fuel is my thinking.

All Moto sites accept key keyfuels

Who remembers Key Fuels having an actual Key

I only remember Keyfuels as being a pain in the arse.

I was there in around 1995(?) when it was first introduced. It was called C H Jones back then. I used to manage 3 refuelling sites. It was only the smaller sites which sold it and near impossible to find on the motorway network - you had to divert off route to fuel bunkering sites, often in the middle of nowhere. It’s only been in the relatively recent times that it’s been adopted by most of the MSAs it seems.

These are typically found in the “Branded” service areas that sell (for example) “Shell FuelSave Diesel” for Shell/DKV/Cash customers and “Keyfuels Bunker Junk” for Keyfuels

The fuel from both pumps meet the same minimum standards but the “Shell” one probably has a bit of RedEX in (or similar)
