I actually listen for the reassuring clunk of the locks before I walk away from my car and will never lock it at a distance that I cannot hear this clunk.
Lock and yank and if it opens its not locked

I nearly always try the door after locking, it’s just a habit I’ve got into over the years.
Valuables kept next to knackers

Yea agreed, however i had the displeasure of driving an Aldi A3 with all the bells and whistles a few months ago, that had keyless go among many pointless additions, locking it when i finished with it i tried the door, keyless go so it opens, try again, keyless go so it opens…don’t mention the fact i had to reverse it up to some posts, so can’t rely on the reversing sensors, so as i’ve been doing for the past 40 odd years opened the door to look out, hey presto electric parking brake applies…Jesus wept people actually pay good money to own things like that, they must be bloody mad.
So if you want to check the doors really are locked you have to walk about 60 ft away out of range, place the keys somewhere safe, walk back and check the piggin doors are locked then collect your keys and carry on as you were.
Our Scannis have got remote on the plipper, i used a 12 plate this week, yep it don’t respond to the plipper, probably due for the scrap man as old as that
Bomb proof 111 or 113 they aint.
Don’t ya just lurrvvvve technology! I’ve also heard of some of the pro car thieves that just sit around waiting for you to lock your car and clone a key or whatever they use and just open it when you’ve locked it, checked it and walked outta site…then just open it and drive off!
Dickturpinservice areas…
Wecouldn’tcareless service areas, Grabbitfloggitandscarper MSA’s all have large disclaimer notices. ‘You park here at your own risk. We will rip you off with shody goods, below average food, extortionate prices for everything but, if your car is burgled…tough’
It’s boils my blood to know that whilst I’m waiting to use a smelly toilet, dirty hand basin and germ infected drying machine, some scrote is doing my lorry/car over and the MSA washes it’s hands (see what I did there) of any responsibilty whatsoever.
Put up cameras, add some covert security and start looking after your customers instead of fleecing them.
ok…the last one’s never gonna happen
Modern cars have never been easier to nick. Smash a window, plug into the obd socket with the right gizmo, and away you go in less than 30 seconds from picking up the brick

This happened to a guy in units next to mine. Brand new Ford Transit cab & chassis. He purpose customed the deck in ally chequer plate, chrome side-rails to fit in with his classic car hobby. Some sod, it turned out was hiding in another motor on site and caught the moment the keyfob activated… cloned signal. Not going into a long story, but the motor was found out in the sticks for later collection. Fortunately, some good member of the public spotted the said vehicle and straight on the blower to the ol’ bill.
Next thing, my mate next door there was to have a tracker fitted. Turn’s out the guy who installed it was a retired …^^^ yep, ol bill
