Kettles.

I know it’s been done to death so I apologise in advance but is anybody using a electric 24volt kettle in a Actros(one of the newish ones).
I believe the cig lighter says 300watts,I’ve looked on line and nothing gives a detailed description apart from 24volt.
They don’t allow the gas stoves even though the electric kettle with probably burn the cab out before the stove will
Cheers.

Ive got a waeco one and Im fairly sure it is 380 watts.
I don’t think a cig lighter plug would last long at 300 watts. A Hella type plug with the earth terminals all round rather than just one or two are usually rated at 16 amp, so only just enough for 380 watts (24x16=384)

I use a 240v kettle on an inverter.
I must have tried every 24v kettle on the market, but none of them have lasted.
If you have an Actros be careful, one of our lot left his kettle switched on all night unattended in the yard, the cut off switch failed, but the fuse did not blow until after it did a lot of heat damage to the dash, and needless to say ruined his kettle.

Cheers for reply’s Pig-Pen & Robroy,it’s off for service next week so I’ll see if I can get a little help from them,Might be a blessing if I got one and left it on over weekend, hate the Merc with a passion

Like I say mate, go for the 240v/ inverter way, but if it does take fire at least it’ll be one less of the bloody things off the road…but chuck your kettle out before it takes hold. :

If you are tramping and they won’t let you use a stove then they should supply a inverter to at least let you boil a kettle
It has to work both ways
If not just plug in something that will fry the wiring

If it says 300W what is your problem, most 24V kettles are around 240W?. As far as i can tell the power socket in the Actros is 15A which is 360W,

Following item is rated at 150W if your worried

A little of topic but related, how do you guys charge all your electrics, especially these that tramp, I mean there are sat navs, tablets, phones, fans in the summer, headphones/pods…

Cheers for replying guys…
I usually take a flask and fill it with boiling water at last place I’ve tipped or loaded so not been bothered before as I wasn’t out all week but I’ve started doing more nights out so just wanted something to fall back on.
They don’t let you have a burner or I wouldn’t think twice about having one and it’s a lease wagon so I reckon a inverters out(I’ll check because another lads got same motor now though).
I know kettles are usually dodgy,I can remember my old man plugging one into an F10 years ago and it melting  but I’d have thought they’d have made something up to job by now.
They do a streetwise 24v one in B&Q,it’s only £15 so I might have a punt…

I’d invest in one of these before buying a kettle. Make sure but a kettle with big fitting
As had 12 and 24 v hellia no hellia ones .all eventually melt on me but this stopped it happening 16A Hella Plug to Cigarette Lighter Socket 12v & 24v | ROADKING.co.uk
