Anybody on here remember browns transport from new ash green,they had white 401 seddon atkinsons with blue stripes,
i worked there in the 90s on the tankers .
Pushed 'em along for this crowd during my spell living in Rochester. Not a bad lot to work for, the only problem was the FL, never a fan!
Load of dishwashers/washing machines/tumble driers etc for Whirlpool. This job was OK if you had a drop like this to tip you with a clamp-truck, but often the load would be for electrical stores, high street shops or B&Q, Homebase etc, the washing machines could be stacked 3 high & you would have to hand-ball them down & onto palletts, or drag them to the back door! These loads could have 6-7 drops to be done in a day, hard work but there you go, that was the job!
I swapped my Volvo FL for this, my choice, she might not look much but by-the-left didn’t she go, particularly with a blown fuse to replace the good one in no.13 slot if remember right! Just loaded here with Newsprint at Pershore for Kent.

When I was on for them they had a few rigids, a couple of Volvo Fl10 artics, a couple of DAF 85s & 2-3 FHs, bloke called Matt Clarke ran the traffic office, as I said they were good to work for, I would quite happily have stayed on for them if I hadn’t moved back up this way.

Castledene are still going, they run all FM units now, apart from some FL rigids, I live just down the road from them.
Always wondered what they are like to work for.
Nicholls quarries old scammell recovery, i am informed she was ex pickfords and they mounted a ex army crane from a Leyland martian the quarry is now closed down but when this had a early start i did not need a alarm clock as the quarry is only a mile from my house. It was sold on to Ovendens of Aylsham who i believe were considering restoration and its seen parked up awaiting that decision. I have since been informed it has been sold on and is down the west country i think Somerset
