Hello all,
I’m new to the forum and just got my registration cleared today.
Been browsing through the forums but not easy to find exactly what I’m looking for - any advice appreciated from you guys out there.
Managed to find some answers but I’m pretty sure thers a lot more places and companies in Kent who would take on new starters then I have found so far.
Maybe you had some experience with them?
Or heard about these? Please spare a few words or comments on the following for me as a newbie wannabe…
Kent frozen foods
Ash careers in medway
Sms drive force
Palletline in Tonbridge
Lenham storage
Swain transport
Please if you know from the top of your head any more … don’t hesitate to post.
Hoping to hear from you soon
Many thanks

Welcome to the forum pal!
Thanks Evil and bluestate,
Just to pick your brains… would any one have heard how it is working with ADR on class 2…?
Currently planning the way forward and I’d like to make the right decision for me — class1 or class 2 + ADR??
Things I’m considering is constant start times ( permanent days) job security , staff friendly management … etc
I’m not looking for a Mon-Fri job… got used to working weekends.
Thanks for any input
I do ADR mate and started out on the Pallets doing ADR ‘packages’, now I’m on tankers…
An ADR for a newbie can be useful, but you have to combine it with a sector of the driver market that needs it, and that’s a bit limited for newbies once you get beyond pallets. It also depends where you live, and I have a refinery just down the road from me. But a fresh newbie is going to struggle to get into that work without a little bit of experience.
If you haven’t got local ADR opportunities, then it may also be worth considering Hiab to improve your employment opportunities…
But if you want to know what the ADR course is like, I’ve detailed it here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=128053

SMS are A really good agency in my opinion an I’ve been with them over two years. They don’t mess you about and can get you work if you’re not overly fussy.
They are the main supplier for P&H in Aylesford & snodland and do a lot for Brakes brothers.
Speak with Mark or Richard
Kent is awash with class two work, to name a few
P&H
Brakes
Bidevest
warburtons
muller - in ashford and maistone
hermes - aylesford
DHL in Aylesford on behald of zara (clothing company)
Wow thanks Johnnyboat I shall bring my cv-s in asap.
If you get your Class 1 then Morrisons at Sittingbourne RDC are taking on newbies.

I’ll second that about SMS. I was with them for a year and would recommend them to anyone.

As for Swain’s, I don’t know much about them except that they’re always advertising for 7.5t and class 2 (multi drop and general haulage). I think they have a scheme where they train you up through the ranks,so presumably they take new passes. And that one of my mates works for them on class 1 with a nice 8-wheel Volvo tractor-unit on what they call ‘special projects’,which is what I do on class 2,(plant) and general heavy stuff. Hope it helps
Thanks dani.!! Looks like I will knock on Sms door first… next year I’m going for class 1 just want to get xmas out the way … new year new start…
Wow Nobby sounds like that’s a special project indeed… lol
Lee you mentioned Morrisons… that is actually close to where I live … any experiences? Do they do class 2? If I’d have class 1 I’d give it a go… maybe next year?? I presume January is quiet over there being a food retailer…

I’ve been working for them for almost 3 years. You just drive to a store and back, usually do 2 stores a day, no loading or unloading involved, you just drive.
They’re always after drivers and they take new passes, would be helpful if you had some experience though even just a short stint on agency. They took me on after only having my licence for 3 months.
All class 1 though.

Thanks Lee… its a bit further down the line but sounds like a plan… next year maybe. I ve seen double dockers as well being pulled by morrisons units - wouldn’t be to keen to drive one of those full up to the brim !!!
Hi
I got my start at Castledene Transport in Aylesford. They are now putting me through my Class 1. If you keep your head down and don’t skive they are a good lot!
