I see in the Notices that Mike Brookes (of Hereford) went belly up on 22 December too. I used to chat to their drivers at the Palletforce hub back in the day, winding them asking when their boss was going to finally replace their knackered old FH12s ! ICS have gone as well, 3 December! Who knew? https://flic.kr/p/2hvxLar

I know Andy Brookes and he is not the type of man to just go belly up as you put it .
He ceased trading and sold his lorries through auction over 2 yrs ago so I’d think that whatever is in the gazette could just be his business finishing in a proper manner .

ICS are still going. See the regularly including two today

JWT, ICS,TNT, ADT, ABC, FBI… Presumably most are derived from the original eponymous monicker eg “Bill Bloggs Transport”
Not a lot of creativity involved in the average tucking company is there? :unamused:

JMD it was Rob, although i did also do a bit part time for JWT before they started the Containers. I used to shift car parts for them.

On the Gazette notice the following is listed

Note: The Directors of the Company have made a declaration of solvency and it is expected that all creditors will be paid in full.

“finishing in a proper manner” it appears to be, and credit to them for that.

I bought a firm a few years ago called ‘ABC’. The owner had set up 35 years before as an owner driver but chose ‘ABC’ so he came up first in the phone book. His surname was brown, but there was already a brown transport in that area.
