Scameras can only catch fast drivers they have no effect on bad drivers.
That will just cause more frustration and more accidents! Who ever came up with this has
A) clearly never driven on the A9
B) is daft
C) wasting money that could be spent on actually duelling the road
Agreed there are going to be a lot of frustrated car drivers I for one will stick to 40 and will not be pulling in to let other pass
"Trucks and lorries are limited to 40mph on the single carriageway sections of the A9, and an average speed camera system will enforce this limit on them.
“This will make it difficult for drivers of other vehicles, who are not limited to 40mph, to pass these slower moving trucks and lorries.”
Here we go making it worse !
and they even know it

Just another reason for me to use A82 Much nicer drive, much nicer views, less traffic and less scameras
Absolutely ridiculous idea , now instead of a handful of trucks sitting at 40 mph and a few ridiculous overtaking manoeuvers we’ll have every truck at 40 and massive increase in the suicidal overtakes, I wont be surprised if the death rate increases now.
These people coming up with these ideas are too thick to realise that not all accidents are caused by speed.
Personally I believe the Scottish Government have seen an opportunity to raise some cash after the recent tragic death of a mother, her young daughter and a tourist.
They cant afford to dual the road now so they have to do something to deflect the criticism there getting and earning a few quid in the process is a bonus.

Very cynical, however I agree.

I travel the A9 on a regular basis and a lot of the driving is attrocious.Maybe if drivers would not drive nose to tail there would be adequte space for car drivers to overtake and fit in a gap.
On most occasions that is not the case.Miles of empty road and then you have about ten or fifteen vehicles all together.Pathetic.

That’s true. I find most drivers in Britain not too good when it comes to overtaking. Nothing wrong with that, but then, if you are not going to overtake yourself, leave space for the others to do so.

Guess we now know where the government is finding the funds to duel it from
Plenty of arguments for and against i suppose. Like its easier to overtake an artic doing 40 than doing 50, less lorry grouping so easier overtakes. Should prevent artics overtaking other artics which is a regular occurrence!
Pitfalls, lots more lorries doing 40 so more overtakes required. The average drive time for all motorists including lorry drivers will go up. Having to do Dunblane to Perth at 50 will send all the Aberdeen flyers on the A977.
To be honest it dont much affect me nowadays we lost all our work up that way, thank christ i say! Hated the A9 with a passion!
The fact that average speed cameras halved the death rate on the A77 I think proves the fact that they work. And if there is one road that requires the death rate improved its the A9. Eddie.

But A77 on the stretch where the cameras are is very different. It is mostly dual carriage way with plenty of side roads…

Yep me too !
Pathetic attempt to quell the publics fears with absolutely no bloody sensible thought process being used
I’m not fully understanding the A77 argument that the cameras work. If I remember right, the worst part of that road was between Newton Mearns and the Eaglesham Moor Rd end. It was a mix of S/C and D/C. The D/C parts had no central reservation! Plenty of head on collisions, mostly fatal. I’m sure it had the worst fatality rate in the UK at the time. When it was upgraded to a motorway 7 or 8 years ago, the common fatal collisions stopped overnight. The 3 or 4 miles between Bogend Toll and the Monkton Rdbt was bad and I agree the cameras have helped reduce the accidents there but my point is that its the road upgrades that have done more to reduce the accidents than the cameras.
