Here’s some questions regarding the 11 plate TGS 35-400 (automatic) 8wheeler drive.
Why does the fault alert come on for engine management all the time, with no detectable fault when it goes to MAN Swindon for it’s 6 weekly inspection?
Why are they so sluggish at pulling away (acknowledging the delay of course)?
Why does the interior trim fall to bits like the centre draws and armrests on the doors? I know a tipper gets shaken about but having driven older Fodens that never fell apart like this thing does.
Why are they so thirsty, even when driven gently?
Not having a pop at you, but having driven Foden tippers for several years, the TGS seems badly put together in comparison.
Why are the steering wheels so BIG? lol

I was in a 6 wheel M A N and that was drinking fuel like it wanted to get drunk!. I thought it was my driving. Do you find also that Ad blue also goes quick?
Can you help in sourcing a cab mount for a 06 plate TGL 8-180? We need a new one for one of ours, but the only one we can get hold of is the modified version, which will mean changing a whole load of other bits - steering column mount etc, and puts the bill at over £1000! Do you have any idea where we can get the pre-modified version?
Thanks
Gary
Why are the auto boxes and clutch control so crap?
The only good thing in the truck was the stereo, lol
I guess Carl has had second thoughts?
Mickeyblue, mine doesn’t need adblue (glad really I have enough faults flashing up already). Although I did drive a hired one on flour work that did. I didn’t think it was so much using it, but it has such a small tank compared to Dafs and Volvos. I like the large steering wheel (suits the sluggish turn of an 8wheeler) and to be fair, it’s brilliant off road even for an auto.
As I understand it, the big steering wheel is to satisfy some German regulation about being able to steer if the power fails. I think later models have a smaller version (or it’s an option?)
lol carl your gunna have your work cut out on here admitting to been a tec from MAN lol good luck with that one …

as my wife says " don’t get upset size isn’t everything " lol.
F90 &f2000 roadhaus was a good truck
Ran a couple
But the newer tga were litter and would never touch one since
Man gone down hill bigtime since replacing the f2000
Right as of this afternoon, my truck now displays warnings for
Truck ABS
Brake Control Malfunction (I think this is the engine brake as it’ll only work when I press the stalk and not on the footbrake)
Gearbox ECU fault
and Engine Malfunction.
if he comes back…i,m next

how are you supposed to pull the n/s sun visor down while driving ?

I’ve learned from this and now put it roughly in position before setting off. Too far though and you block out your pedestrian mirror.
Can’t complain though, they’re infinitely better than Daf CF sunvisors.

If he comes back I think he will hide poor soul lol. Had an erf ect (man tga) it was ok to drive but used to throw up silly faults to. Found it wouldn’t start on the fuel pumps early one morning, displaying all sorts of falls on dash so called erf/man out and he plugged his computer in couldn’t find anything wrong. Pulled battery lead off give it five minutes then refitted it and started straight up. So that’s all I did for the faults it used to throw up. Easy £350 for man!
So I’m getting the impression overal your impressed with the MAN range?
Where do I start lol
