At least you’ll not be hitting any bridges with that.
Reminds me of a ‘load’ I had to collect once…

Remember lifting a sealed box van with a delivery adress near Glasgow from Dover . On arrival in Glasgow after checking in at the gatehouse a man approaches me , I say whay bay boss ? he said no need , I’ll tip you now . Opens the back door and it looks like the trailer is empty, I break out in a sweat and recheck I have the right trailer on . I have but this thing is empty but the loading note / paperwork is taped to the back door. Nope the paperwork is the load .

None of us are drivers any more, how the industry managed up until now with us useless buggers behind the wheel I’ll never know.

I miss the old days on over the water work and even (dare I say it ) the UK work, but wouldn’t go back to it anyore even if I still held a class 1 and the very useless DCPC, renewed my ticket to continue driving of ships in December for another 5 years. Providing I live that long … that’ll do for me

Can’t be too careful with steel!
Think we’ve exhausted this subject now let’s move on.

Lol Rob !
I collected Royal Mail for Switzerland from Laser Int at Ashford many years ago, backed an empty tilt onto the bay and immediately told to pull off the bay…looked in the back and just three mailbags were inside. ‘heres your seals mate…CMR is in the office’
…and many a time I loaded from Fords at Enfield with just one pallet of dashboards for Cologne, a line stopper so had to be there ASAP.
Sometimes these type of loads just have to go, if the customer is paying the rate for an artic, then away it goes !
About this time last year ( busy with the diy brigade as well as the builders ) my mate was sent from wigton to skinburness in a 26t to deliver 2 piano hinges ■■? He said at the time ,why not phone the guy and tell him if he comes for them he can have them for free it will be cheaper !!
One length of 4x2 timber from Caldicot to Launceston. Missed off the main load, and the company were the sole suppliers to the builders, so they couldn’t buy anywhere else!

“Warning, keep clear”
A suitable message on your lorry.
I used to regularly swap refers in London and bring up anything, up to a full load, of dairy products. It was a backload after delivering another temperature controlled product.
There were a few times when I was told that there was no load for me today, and the trailer would be going up empty. But the office usually gave me several boxes of paperwork to take up.
I would often tell them that as I was running empty, I was not going to their Depot and no doubt they would refuse to pay for the load. I spoke to our duty manager on a few occasions.
So if I was going up, with paperwork, The company would have to print out more paperwork, that will get me through the front gate to deliver this paperwork.
When my run was handed over to another driver, he used to put The a4 boxes of paperwork in the trailer.
At the destination the trailer was put on the bay. Those unloading it, would often then look through the window without opening the door and seeing it empty, instruct the shunter that it was to be returned to the trailer park.
The paperwork then ended falling off the trailer, as left by the backdoor, and spewed across the delivery yard.
