Hi all from sunny rotherham,
Iv just started the process of getting my class c,and thought I’d put my progress on here.So after being made redundant from my last job iv spent the last year on the dole, not fun when i been in work since i left school. After saving up some cash i sorted out my provisional and medical out and booked my theory, which i passed on Thursday .Iv booked my training with Dave Shaw down in dronfield who my cousin went with and passed both his c and c+e first time.I start two week today so i’m chomping at the bit to get started now lol.
Welcome to the site and best of luck with the training if C test goes well are you going to go for C+E?
I think im going to get my hiab ticket and get some general experience for a year or so before i go for my artic.
Hey.
Good luck with your practical.

All the best with it. Let us know how you get on with Opticruise. BTW, it’s Darren, not Dave!
Pete
Oh yeah darren
Excuse me if this is a stupid question but whats opticruise?
Opticruise is a type of semi automatic gearbox transmission made by Scania.
Apparently it’s also fully automatic too. Just Googled it
Darren runs a Scania with 3 pedal Opticruise so it qualifies as a full manual for test purposes. You move away using gas and clutch as normal, but then it changes up and down on it’s own during normal driving. You use the clutch when stopping.
I can see great advantages to this system for training; but I can also see some points against. That’s why I’d ask you for honest feedback.
All the best, Pete
Cheers mate

Yeah that could be an issue, getting in a truck and technically never have drove a manual.Oh well i’ll see how it goes and let you know
IMO it doesn’t matter what you learn on. There’s so many variations of vehicle in the real world that the chances of learning on one the same as what you end up driving must be very low. So the object of the operation is to make life as easy as possible to pass the test to start with. I can see, as I’ve said, distinct advantages to using Opticruise. But I’d like to know how new drivers get on with it.
I look forward to finding out - - actually I’m impatient so I’ll start another thread!!
All the best, Pete
So as a bit of a update i started my training saturday and so far its been going pretty well.
My main issues have been my observation when navigating roundabouts, that is coming in to close on my far side.
The opticruise box is really smooth in fact i recently had a brand new insignia courtesy car and its easily as smooth and responsive as that.
I took my cpc practical today and passed with 100% so cant complain at that lol.
Iv got my test on Thursday fingers crossed
