whats the big deal?? This happens to about 100 trucks every day across the country 
If vosa and the police actually did their bloody jobs properly we wouldnt have these people running trucks and expecting drivers to run bent driving ill maintained trucks, they know these companies run bent and im not just talking about hours yet they do nothing about it!
OP, just because you may work for a proffesional company you must remember not everyone does, the driver in question may not have many options with regards to who he can work for so although he may not like breaking the rules he may have no choice… If or when you end up working for what i call a “less professional” firm you may be abit more understanding but until then perharps you should wind your neck in abit about a subject you know clearly nothing about!

He still lives with his mum and when police do there job, he turns it into a drama and posts it on twitter and your paying him for it,

I’ve been fined twice and on both occasions they got it wrong. Just because a copper says you’ve done something wrong, It dosn’t mean that that’s the way it is.

Take it you have never gone over your time by 10-15 minuites to park up then? So going by what you are saying if you had a high value load on and was planning on parking at say Junc 29 truckstop but there had been a breakdown on the M1 causing tailbacks meaning that you would run out of time at junc 28 you wouldn’t go over by 10 mins to make sure you was in a safe,secure truckstop with cameras,you would park up on the unsecure,dodgy industrial estate just off the M1■■ I very much doubt it but if you did then you deserve everything you get.
Just to add, I don’t condone running bent it was just the way you worded the original post.
Granted the driver in question got what he deserved as he was probably going for it to get parked up and relieved of £500 but anyone who says they’ve never gone half an hour over isn’t really a trucker imo.

Plus always write on the back the reason why and as long as its not taking the p–a i.e 30mins-1hour then VOSA will be ok with it,as long as it ain’t happening regular.

I was going to say that, do a print out to write the reasons for your infringement on. also do a print out to write the reasons for your infringement for your office too. It dont make the infringment go away, but if its not regular occurance, you’ll be more favourable treated
