Hi there just joined the site over the weekend. On my first steps to trying to gain my Cat C licence and then hopefully the C + E. I’ve had my provisional entitlement for over 10 years but never actually got around to going any further with it,as I found another job and been happy doing that for the last 10 years but lots of changes going on in my current role and just want something to fall back on. If I’m honest I will properly keep my current job for the time being and just gain some valuable exprience doing casual work the odd day here and there. Is there much casual work around for new drivers I’m just thinking 1 or 2 days a week. Theory test has been booked for April 10th

Welcome to the maelstrom that is TNUK.
If I were you, & I probably was a fair few years ago, I’d line up the possible opportunities to be driving on your new LGV licence BEFORE spending any money on very expensive lessons & tests.
It can be very frustrating to spend £1500ish to discover that there simply isn’t the work out there, despite the adverts that you see.
IME, you could walk into any haulage yard & offer your naivety on a plate. In the current climate, at least 8 out of 10 will take you up on it.
Thanks for advise Chas I’ll bear it in mind.
