Hi, I’ve been browsing the forum for sometime and the advice here has helped me choose a a school and pass first time. Trained with RoadTrain (Essex). I received Excellent training and support through the whole journey from getting my provisional to passing my CPC.
Now here is my question. I passed on Monday and managed to secure a Saturday job straight away with Palmer & Harvey (through an agency). I’ll still keep my current job while I’m building up the experience as it is secure and pays the bills. How do I deal with the reporting of drivers hours. I believe I am meant to report any other work apart from the Lorry driving but this will automatically put me over the weekly limit even before I step into the cab. My current role is field based, in a little car derived van. Does this count?
I just don’t want to get in trouble over rest time just after doing all the hard work to obtain a sought after qualification.

You normal job must legally be officially recorded and cannot be used as rest for the regs
Easiest way is to record those other work hours on separate analogue card or on digi print out paper with each day worked having your name date start and finish times on it
Generally if you work in the job from mon to fri then you can only work one day every other weekend

Thanks Rog. That has put my mind at ease. I would have probably started off with an infringement if I did every Saturday.
Snap! I was also at the roadtrain site on Monday doing my class 2 test. I went with Robinsons who are just round the corner in Purfleet (very good trainer too).
Well done on the pass and for getting a saturday job sorted. Im also in the same boat as an agency have taken me on for saturdays to gain experience. Not sure who the company are yet but apparently its 4 hours from 3am travelling chelmsford to dartford and back and forth. I wanted more hours but they’ve informed me i will be getting paid double time so i cant really complain!
I had the first test of the day… So I did the mod 4 in the afternoon. 2 birds and all that. Congrats on your success. Yeah, Saturdays are worth the early start. Mine will be £14/h… Shame I can only do it fortnightly to keep Mr VOSA happy
Good bit of advice, when passing you driving test if you intend to do your module 4 afterwards, keep your licence and send it off after your module 4 test, you will need to show it for ID. Unless you want to wait a few weeks, as above.

The examiner will give the choice.
If you do send it yourself then the pass certificate must be sent with it and will not get returned so if you want to keep a copy then scan it along with your licence (both sides) before sending to DVLA - you can than print out a colour copy to keep
Didnt realise this. Would have been good to know beforehand but i have until the 2nd of december before doing my mod 4 so fingers crossed it will arrive in time.
