It weighs 43 tonne without a trailer, it is 10 foot wide, the cab was fabricated using the shell of a Volvo Globetrotter, and extended to allow 3 bunks for the crew and a kitchen area…

Unipower with ?Ex-Sunters Titan?

Scammell Contractor with OAF 8x8 Ex Toman and Ex Econo.

A.L.E. certainly like there tank transporters.

One of the C series oil field spec.

What ever happened to those Heanor Haulage home grown unit’s?
Did’nt they have an F88 cab on them?

There were 4 or 5 Scammell HHT powered with Detroit engines with Volvo F88 cabs. Ive heard that after work at Heanor them being used exclusively within steel works, transformed into wreckers and one currently being restored in County Durham by Dave Evans.

The OAF was nicknamed “Leaping Lena”, for one good reason it used to jump about like a lunatic, couldnt half pull a load though

I was also told by an Econofreight man that ‘OAF’ stood for 'Old And … you can guess.

I believe the bonnetted Unipower is no more - it got burned-out. I don’t know about the OAF though.

Tim

Ive heard a whisper that the Unipower is back in the UK, since being re-cabbed.

What make is this■■?

Clue: It IS British

I have airbrushed out some identifying marks to make it a little harder :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :open_mouth:

Another Clue:-
The cab is not the original version, it has been adapted from a Volvo cab… but the truck was designed and built in the UK

Unipower :sunglasses:
