Just finished 0500

got a phonecall yesterday afternoon from agency asking if i would like to run trailers and units from depot to an hgv repair and test centre. the strt time 1930 so no problem i said to them.

the first run was no probs ,it was a 40ft box with a broken tail lift .got that dropped off and picked a repaired one and back to depot ang got that parked up. tm says ok,here is keys for another volvo fm12,taqke this to repair place with another 40ft box but pick up different unit and trailer.he said just ask the mechanic whats ready.

arrived at repair place to find i had to do another blind side reverse to park trailer, job done into office and hand over keys. got handed keys for an old r plate renult 4x2 and told to take back the tri axle curtainsider.

got into unit and thought this will be interesting, never driven one before . it turns out it has one of these slap over boxes which took me a couple of miles to figure out seeing as i have only ever driven a 4 over4 range box before.

it was the biggest heep of junk iv ever driven but i still enjoyed it as it was a different type of unit and gearbox that i am atleast a wee bit aquainted with .

all in all, although i was only doing short hops (50mile round trip) i thoroughly enjoyed myself and itwas good getting to uncouple and recouple about 6 or 7 times in one shift .

looking forward to next phonecall from agency already

Did you fit all your vehicle changes on one tacho or were there more vehicles than ‘spaces’■■

Like you said, a good learning curve for both variety of motors and filling in tacho’s experience! :sunglasses:

finished at 0600 slightly stressed with one our depots pallet dumping habits …

had to drop a return load at one of our depots just down the road , the bays for this are on right hand side and the 2 last spaces are awkward as hell to get into on a good day …
only the last two spaces where available surprise surprise … thing is i now have pallets stacked up opposite the bays in and around my unit swing area … 4 attemots to get it in without causing a domino effect … nope not going in not without knocking half the yrd over and banging the unit … so now i,m tired stressed and really want to go home …
dumped the trailer any old how knobbed off

stuff em i,m going home  :sunglasses:

Another interesting day for you milkman and I am glad you are enjoying it  .

best way to learn little driving but plenty of reversing and blind side to. :stuck_out_tongue:

ye it was not so stressful seeing as it was night shift so i was just taking my time on the blind side reverseing and it picking particular difficult areas for parking my trailer seeing as i wasnt pressurised with a busy yard.

i learned about driving more than 1 vehicle on the same tacho so all in all another good learning experience
