A fixed week is
00.01 Monday morning
Until
23.59 Sunday night
So if he’s only got 26 hours left for the week,
That means he can spread them over 3 more days of 9, 9, 8 and then have his 45 hours off.

As has been said maximum driving time is in the fixed week so you have 26 hours driving time left until 00:00 next Monday.

Absurd isn’t it :unamused:

Weekly and fortnightly driving time should be reset after a weekly rest period but it’s not, how you’re going to be any more rested or safer on a Monday after 45 hours off than on a Wednesday after 45 hours rest only the EU bureaucrats know.

If fixed weeks were totally abandoned, wouldn’t some clever sod find a way to squeeze 54 or 55 weeks into each year?
I agree there are anomalies in the rules, which create absurd looking situations, but mostly it’s to block loopholes.

Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t see what difference it makes how many working weeks a person works in a year

By “working weeks” I’m obviously referring to the period between weekly rest periods.

If every weekly rest was reduced to 45 hrs, couldn’t a driver end up doing more days work every week?
A full legal working week and rest in less than 7 x 24hr periods then start again?
Looks a pretty gruelling schedule to me. Reduces the driver to a “cog in the machine” even more than now. Shouldn’t we be pressing for more humane conditions, rather than just the minimum needed to avoid accidents through somnolence?

I agree but within the current rules theres anomoloirs which on the face of it dont make much sense, like the one mentioned here and also doing 4 x 10hr drives Saturday to Tuesday inclusive and that being fine but it’s not fine to do it Monday through Thursday.
