Just been offered a great job i think

Well i have just passed my test for class 2 and spent the last week talking with employers and agency’s to now feel that i wasted a week as they all like to talk but not much else. So my mate rings me and ask me if i want to drive a 5 car transporter for him it is a bit of a nail a 04 plate Volvo doing auction work after a bit of a chat we agree that i will do it for 6 months and he will put me though my class one and i then can do the work to Spain and Portugal where he runs top end trucks with all the bells and whistles, 2 weeks away at a time. I have fell on my feet with this offer as i feel i might of done

Yes it sounds like it could lead to good things good luck with it.

Nice one mate and good luck, but is the wage ‘top end with bells and whistles’ that’s what I would be asking, and interested in. :bulb:

for the class 2 no nights out £400 banked so not great but okay as i will look at it as training towards the end game. European class 1 £750 banked all in so it looks okay so i reckon Ruth with the smooth. Hows that sound to you

Cheers mate, but I wasn’t advocating for you to divulge your wage  , as that is only your business.

750 less say 5 nights out at 30 per night, inc your weekending money, leaves you with 600 quid take home.
It does not matter how it sounds to me or anyone else, if you are happy with it that is all that matters.
You will be gaining good valuable experience in Euro work on your first artic job so crack on,… and as I said before good luck with it…btw. Say hello to Ruth for me.

Let me know when you are off to the Iberian Peninsula, i can offer some tips and advice, with routes and places to stop over at .

If thinking of car transport a read of this might be of interest

Got a good idea of what is involved as done 10 months on car transporter but only a 2 car but the company ran 5 and 11 cars as well. I left them 3 days before i passed my test as the TM was a arse and was going to give me the push because i refused to work as i got no sleep as night heater did not work. My little truck had a pod on the top of the cab so i was frozen. I,m having to do this new job with a poor quality truck but i have known the company owner for 10 years and have a good relationship so when he tells me he will sort me out i know there is light at the end of the tunnel. A little bit of graft for a while and getting educated over here is no bad thing. I think it will be easy days doing European work and i should be able to deal with any issues i might get while on my own far away.

If the 04 Volvo is properly maintained, everything works, and the paint and panels are reasonable then it’s not an old nail, it’s just an older lorry. It is probably far more likely to get you home on time than the brand new Carlos Fandango new one with all the bells and whistles, and electronic gizmos which throw a hissy-fit because it’s Friday.

No the lads who dont drive Rolls Royce trucks said it is a read pig maintained yes but a pig. But as the lads said master that and i will be able to drive any thing im given. so it should make me a better driver i feel. Plus i have driven the worst truck on the planet a Isuzu so it will be better than that

I’m getting a little jealous of people with there bells & whistles, all I get is a fridge, microwave & inverter…not a single bell or whistle to be had

Never used a night heater yet ( that includes sleeping in a sprinter across the seats )
