Just a thought

Hi all, hope it’s going to be a busy year ahead, right would you put a digital tacho in a truck that has a normal tacho (card) cheers Dean

why not? they’re much easier to fiddle than analogue. the latest ones arn’t as easy, but do’able.
and of course there’s the carbon footprint to think of, no more tacho charts, so much less paper.

if you fit the latest type of “exact” digi taco’s then yes as you will save yourself driving time
if you are going to fit any old type of digi taco of the likes of flea bay then no, there are a lot of older type available s/hand due to hauliers re fitting the exact type
the older first generation of digi taco’s rounded up the driving time, the exact type dont!

I take it your talking analog tacho and putting a digi in … not all trucks will up grade fron anna to digi so I’ve been told its to do with the wiring or something

I believe that anything which has a cassette type analogue tachograph will take a digital tachograph although it will need pairing with the truck so it’s a VOSA approved garage jobbie.

However, I believe that trucks with analogue tachographs have a slightly higher financial value than an equivalent age truck with digital so unless you are doing it for other reasons, e.g. ease of analysis etc then it may not be the most sensible thing to do?
