Jumping across to an 8 wheeler with trailer, is there any golden tips I need to know in advance to stop me learning the hard way ■■ I am going to receive some on the job training but anything I can know in advance is always useful eh…
Done a Rigid and old fashioned trailer before in the past, but not used these close couple style before, saw a post before about being careful when doing tight turns etc, only served to make this post as there is obviously something to be learned about the difference between what I have done before.

Gonna be skip and roll on roll off type work.
TIA
Mark ,
You won’t be doing a tight turn in an 8 wheeler you need a
football pitch to turn them lol …

Yeah, gotta agree with this man! Used to drive a 39.5 feet long 8 legger - just be glad that the drag tends to follow pretty neatly, otherwise it wouldn’t go anywhere successfully!
hi,i do ro ro skip work on daf85 cf 8 legger and triaxle drag, the drag does follow the unit sweetly so usually if you can get the unit in somewhere the drag will also get in.if i go anywhere new i park outside first or street view it the night before although this does give a false impression of space,
and walk in to assess the turning area as you carnt crank it round like an artic, and you will need space to drop the drag and the bin on the unit as you tip the bin on the drag,`this can be a bit of a ball ache in somewhere tight, but iv been doing this for 4yrs now and prefer it to artic work, horses for courses.

Scania’s, not sure if they are 8x2 or 8x4 actually, knowing the kind of work they do I would hazard a guess 8x2 tho ■■
Yes Moaster, Moutains
Pm me sometime with your thoughts on the company please Mark. I’m getting a tad bored with maxing my hours out Monday to Friday, and then being expected to do a full shift when I run in Sat morning!
Will let you know how it rolls, seem a nice bunch of guys that I met so far, expecting the work to be quite in your face and busy, but then that makes your day pass quicker I suppose, not looking forward to being back on day work, that said this is a slightly different kind of work to what I have been doing so maybe it will shake out ok, all local’ish stuff as well which is kinda nice I suppose
so sadly will be like driving a barge
Righty ho, times like this you could do with the steering wheel from a M.A.N to suit then eh

Thank’s Cat, Google Street View is my friend also, the most used function on my phone & iPad probably !
