Aye it’s a cracking photo and being in b and w makes it even better. :sunglasses:
Would it have been taken on the A49 somewhere?

hi chris,
i agree with you there mate.at a guess,i would say chepstowchap took that photo between hay-on-wye and monkland, north bound.yes tyb and many other b series were ex wincanton, ideal local tractors.
regards andrew.

Hi Chaps,
I would think that pic was taken on the A4112 near Sarnsfield,as Andrew says not that far from Weobley Same road as Monkland.
Cheers Dave.

hi dennis,
agree with you there mate.a classic motor.i bet bewick never ran marathons  a classic truck these days, though back in the days when joint had 29 of them,i can never :exclamation: ever :exclamation: recall all 29 of them working  seen here wth ron howells r.i.p. at the wheel.

You are 110% correct in your observation there Andrew!! I would never entertain a Marathon at any price and believe me it wasn’t for the lack of trying by the Leyland people!!! They thought that when they fitted the ■■■■■■■ engine they could make inroads into our fleet but I’d given the ■■■■■■■ chassis the “heave ho” a long while before so they were still ■■■■■■■ into wind!!! I suppose the previous shot with both a Joints Gardner Atki and a poxy Marathon adequately sums up the times!! Me,well I always thought a Marathon was a chocolate bar!!! IMO there was more work in the Choc bar than the Leyland Marathon!! Cheers Dennis.

Just to prove I did occaisionally relent Andrew, one guess which is the odd one out!!! The driver that parked that lump of crap next to those quality motors should be ashamed of himself!!!

crikey dennis boyo im so glad i bought a merc and not a marathon cheers happy martyn.

hi dennis,
i hope you didn’t send the buffalo very far.a headless wonder demonstator :exclamation: what exactley would that demonstrate, what not to buy.who in the once mighty british leyland thought of that engine  and how were they ever going to be any use    a bit like trying to play golf with a spade
regards andrew.

I’d have just taken pity on you Martyn!!! It is not my style to mock the “afflicted” which you certainly would have been if you’d got stuffed up with a Marathon------- Bleeding wally!!! Cheers Dennis.
