Did Joints deliver steel into Ryton car plant near Coventry? I went past there earlier and its all ben levelled for redevelopment.
Neil.
hi neil,
yes we went there.that was a really big place, when my old man used to go there it was chryslers.the other one near there was jaguar browns lane? dennis i can’t recall any in aintree mate.the only drum named steel drop i remember was tanks and drums in goodlass rd off speak boulevarde, joint also went to their place in mexborough yorkshire.martyn thanks for having a word with adj.nothing was broken down long when he worked for joint
regards andrew.
Was that the tanks and drums in Liverpool ? If it was you had too have the short trailer too get in there. They were quick too unload there It was the start of a good day ! Tony
hi tony,
that’s the place, peter was the guy who tipped you, good as gold he was.i seem to remember? they (some staff) were on strike for years.f131 ath (foden) had the windscreen smashed by the pickets when new in sept. 1988.
regards andrew.
Thought it was the place. It was a good tip no hastle. The bad place was Widnes ( it was the holding place for the ford factory at Hailwood ) when you got there you always had too wait. They told you that they wanted the sheet on so next time you left it on but they wanted it off ! They would really bugger you off all they wanted was too be in the office watching tv and drinking . I had enough one day and lost it I thought i had really messed up and was waiting for some one too tell me I was going too be sacked ! Nothing happened and when I went there the next time they were really good ! So some times a little arguement helps ! Tony
Going off the subject a bit my dad RIP was driving a new Bedford TM about 1980 in liverpool when the strikes were on up there. He went through a picket line with it. He drove it back too Shrewsbury and parked up at the old Greenhouses ( the local Bedford truck dealers) When he came back too take it out the next morning some one had put paint stripper over it saying scab ! So either some one had followed him back or had got in touch with some where in Shrewsbury. It had too have the cab all resprayed it looked allright once it was sprayed but it made you too think twice too go though a picket line. Tony
