Sad news in F1 that John Button, the father of Jenson, has sadly passed away:
I agree, very sad and will be an enormous blow to his family no doubt.
I never met the man but from his numerous tv appearances he came across as a proper gent. RIP.

Sincere condolences to his family and friends. At least he was around to see his son become world champion, and not too many fathers get to feel that level of pride and joy in their lifetimes.
He was a proper dad. Sacrificed a lot to get the lad racing. Lovely to know he saw Jensen lift the World title. R.I.P.
Martin whitmarsh said he went to every GP in the last 4 years. At least he had a good ending apart from the obvious. JB will be on a mission this year to do it for his dad, come on JB and merc !
Good comments , yes he was one of the better gentlemen to be found on pitlane over recent years . As Whitmarsh stated his presence will leave a hole this season . RIP John , not many like him.
As many may know Jenson grew up on a council housing estate.Today it has a reputation.It is called The Mount.To say the boy done well,is acceptable.
I saw John and JB at Reading Msa.They were in different cars.
JB and his partner in a black Mclaren.
Nobody noticed they were in the shop and buying a coffee.Once the Mclaren was spotted in the car park,then passers by got their phones out to get pictures of the car and JB.
He was a devoted father and clearly loved his son.
I agree with Smoggie.
While this year is a clean slate for all, JB will be going all out for his Dad.
