Jobs you want to do and jobs you dont

i’ve worked for myself a few times. and i think i’ll be doing it again, as i’ve just secured a lot of work, spain and italy.
i don’t like the idea of working for stobarts, they are too big, small family run firms are best.

Whilst I’d like to work for myself one day and make the job my own, I’d quite fancy having a crack on ALE especially that monster Unipower they have. More realistically I’d love to have worked for Milbank, I was offered the chance a few years ago but the unpredictability of the nights outs scuppered that one. Shame because they were a cracking company, sad to see them gone now. Be interesting to see how they fare as David Watson Transport.

I always wanted to work for Stobarts and I did the only downside was that I was given a drawbar, but I give it a go and enjoyed it

Hey buck, you only do scotland and say its a drawback? You must be mad mate. I love going north, the further the better.
Personally i dont like doing london deliveries but I`m starting to get over my phobia now (after more than a decade!  :open_mouth: )

Easy, job I’d like-travel over lots of borders, travel far and wide (I collect countries for a hobby).
Job I’d dislike- UK multidrop, or working with orys…

I want to work for Truck & Driver !!

when i was a kid, i always wanted to follow in my dads footsteps at WH MALCOLMS but when i was old enough he sorta swayed me away from it and advised me against it

but id jump at the chance of working for transam or a F1 carrier - something which takes you all round Europe visiting exciting places.

I’m not unhappy in my current job , just bored rigid :open_mouth:

i dont mind scotland, dont get me wrong, its getting there and back for one thing, only the 74 or a1 to choose from.i used to do the whole country including central london, and loved it.i suppose what im saying is i liked the variation.when you go to scotland and back everyday for 3 years on the same roads, you start counting kerb stones.

Worked for Stobart in the 80s…Not quite what it is now tho!!!
Enjoy HIAB work but not enough variety for me (only do London and the SE) but the HIAB bit is fun and peversely I do enjoy the middle of London!
Will be going back on International work when things pickup, really enjoyed that, tramping around Europe was great and very interesting. I would like to do middle east work. I would also like to do International Low loader work.

I always wanted to drive artics, I’m halfway there with my class 2 done and I’ve now been in DHL for a year. I’ve never really wanted to work for a particular company and I’m perfectly happy with DHL for now. Although I would consider doing Stobarts class one trainee scheme.

Uhm.
I would like to be a driver, driving a artic once i am old enough which i believe the age is coming down to 18?
If so i will be seeing you all in 3 or 4 years 3 years time to do my class two, and one and then years expeirence so i can get a class one job somewhere.

Think it was in either the turn of this year or the end of last, I applied on the net via their site to try and get on it but got a thanks but no thanks letter, they now have taken the area where you applied down from the site, and I remember hearing from someone[can’t remember who] that it was being knocked on the head, possibly due to the amount of drivers they were inheriting for the companies they bought out.

When i was a kid i always wanted to drive for General Fooods in Banbury (now Kraft) as my dad was a driver for them and when i passed my class 1 i did get to work there even if it was on the agency and i really loved it but by the time i got to work there exel had got the contract and the money wasnt great :frowning: The job i really dont fancy is running back and forward to BMW at cowley with car parts, had a short spell on the agency doing it and it did my head in,backwards and forwards down the M40 two junctions all day wasnt my cup of tea

I quite fancy driving logging wagons or doing heavy haulage, think that comes from living round the corner from the Pickfords yard in Wood Lane, erdington as a nipper

wouldnt like driving vacum tankers emptying cesspits tho bit whiffy for my sensitive nose

D.R. Macleod of Stornoway
Macaskill of Stornoway

Any other firm from the hebrides lol

Until i can get a job in the hebrides, i have taken a notion towards robert wiseman dairies
