Jobs in West Yorkshire

Hi all,

Anyone know any firms that have any class 1 vacancies, been on the agency rollercoaster for ages and want to get on the books with a firm, dont mind nights out, will do all week if necessary. Anywhere in Yorkshire.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

This is unbelievable…just rang for a job today at malcolm bright haulage in bingley, £7.40 an hour, no overtime, £18 night out money, will NOT pay parking, no meal allowance, 5 nights, and must go sundays!!! and he said 'you’ll get good money, do about 70 hours a week!!! You’d get good money anywhere if you did 70 hours, they call us professional drivers, then pay a f*****g professional wage, muppets!!!

Not saying it’s right, but £7.40 / hr is about the going rate at the moment.

I phoned a company on spec a few mths ago, got offered the job… Class 1 Nights, Level 4 (A+B), ADR etc etc… £7.20 / hr for 50hrs, do more than that and they bank the hours and give you the time off…

Doubt it in these days, loads of drivers willing to work for that or less to be honest. Hence the reason the wages have plummeted

eddi Stobart is looking on few depot. up tp £35.000.- a year on theres website. Apply must be forwarded till end of October.
Checked it last Week out. too far from me. Sorry Eddi :unamused:

Benton Brothers are looking for drivers £6,49 per hour, dont rush. But you get a blingy truck.

Reed Boardall £7 per hour BUT if you have a minor bang thats YOUR fault (or they say is your fault) you pay for the damage. also if you lose a numberplate you pay for that.

Worked for Malcolm Bright when he first started, have an accident he will sack you, and he likes his trucks polished.

its a disgrace, what these tin pot companies can get away with paying, how can the industry attract new people when the wages are so low, who really wants to work 70 hours per week!!! and as for malcolm bright not paying for parking, thats disgusting, you are away all week, the lease you expect is somewhere safe to park, with showers/toilets, eating facilities etc. These companies need to realise, its 2010, people dont want to park on ind ests now, or on an a road. The cheeky ■■■■ said, if you have anything valuable we may pay, what about the truck, what about the drivers needs, they dont give a toss. By the way, does anyone know what bedfords in leeds pay, was thinking of appling, but if its pants wages, might not bother.

cheers all, rant over now

we are on 8 pound straight through at downtons leeds 19 pound night out and a fiver a day dinner money, all parking paid,
nobody leaves and a lot of lads waiting to get in,
having said that my take home pay doesnt seem to have gone up at all in ten years

Yes thanks.

I have a friend who tramps for them, and the rate depends on what shift your on.

Ken.

7-8 quid an is about average now, as for working 70hrs a week thats about right for a tipper driver a proper weeks work  but bonus tops it up. You could try rixonway kitchens they look for drivers quite often or ups both on ind est at dewsbury.

It is a disgrace, but when theres more drivers than jobs and people desperate for a regular wage then people will take on the ■■■■ wage, unfortunatly its an employers market out there.
Its alright saying drivers should make a stand against the crap wages, but making a stand wont pay the mortgage or feed the kids.
