Jobs in West Yorks

Sat in the drivers hospitality suite at Sherburn in Elmet and noticed this on the wall. No idea if it’s direct for Wincanton or through an agency but the base rate doesn’t seem too bad, if of course that is the Mon-Fri rate and not the Sunday rate they are quoting.

Love it

Mind you that Sainsbury’s depot, if that’s where you are, isn’t too bad. I’ve always gone into the warehouse there to be side tipped, so didn’t have to sit in it.

Thought you would have gone to the bikers cafe!

Used to regularly go to the old place after competing in the Helmsley TT  . Apparently it’s just outside the village and is still a cracking spot.

Wasn’t in it long tbh mate. Put my motor on a bay and walked straight over to their subsidised canteen and ate my meal before venturing back to the land of hard chairs and no eye contact.

I remember the anticipation of this place opening about 10 year ago,I actually applied.
Since then Iv known loads of lads gone there, drawn by the money but what is offered didn’t turn out true, lots of weekend work ,awkward convenience stores and they left after a short while.
On the other hand I know of a couple of lad been there since it opened

I think their use of the words ‘‘Transport Colleagues’’ would put me off wanting to work for them.

Fair point Rob, but at least you know what you are getting into before signing the dotted line. Plus, if (and it’s a big IF) that 13 odd quid an hour is a Monday to Friday base rate you could swallow your distaste if you were happy to be one of those turn up, do a bit and then go home type of guys.

Personally I’d run a mile, but that’s just me.

Yeh tbf it does sound half decent if you want that sort of thing.
It reminded me of when an old mate of mine got a job at Sainsbury Stoke, he went for the induction on first day, jacked and came home.
He said it was all bs stuff, …like being told when they met up with another Sainsbury driver or employee on site, they HAD to say ‘‘Good Morning Colleague’’ and lots of similar derisory crap like that.
He may have been winding me up, but I don’t think he was.
Not sure it would be for me.

Convenience stores and buckets of bullshine boxes to tick offer untold reasons for delays  kerching, no bloody good for the tear arse crew, but for those who know how to play the game that has the makings of a decent little number.

That is Wincanton & based on my experience the hourly rate stated will be a flat rate for all days although you’ll probably get a bit extra for early starts.

There will be lots of weekends & you will also be on a fair bit less than £13.57 for the 13 week “probation period”.

Still, if you don’t mind the weekend working a £33.5k basic salary for a 47.5 hour week isn’t bad going.

Flip sake, such negative comments! :frowning: Someone has posted a chance for others to find work. Don’t knock it, might not be your thing but at least the OP is trying to help others!!
The negative posters that think that it’s ■■■■■■ keep your opinions to yourselves!
FFS it’s a job opportunity for those looking for work. If it’s not all as it seems then they can leave!

+1

I got taken over by wincanton in a previous job and managed to keep my t’s & c’s so got payed very well thank you very much but after 5 years of all the corporate BS and H&S BS I couldn’t take it so left. Financially it was a mistake but my free spirit mind [emoji23] needed a smaller more personal company to work for. I said at the time and still say I wish I could just switch off and become a “steering wheel attendant” just there for the money but I can’t.
Anybody that can could do a lot worse than work for them though so I’d never say don’t give them a go.

To be fair mate, that’s the idea of a forum to give opinions and get a balance on a subject.
Just because you don’t agree with said opinions does not mean others should not give them. :bulb: …just saying.
