yep so true, tis crap, i want a bit of eu but none around
Stick your driving jobs, I have had enough. First opportunity I get I will be coming off the road…
Its absolutely dead at the moment. Even the agencies are quiet. Phoned up to register with a new one to be told to come for an interview on Friday - usually they’ve got you a job before you even turn up.
The problem seems to be that the price of diesel has reached the point where it is now worth a company standing a wagon when a driver is off instead of putting an agency driver in who is most likely not to achieve the same workload as a regular driver.

sorry to hear that but im single and i get bored easy and dont want to waste my time on dole sitting on my ■■■ all day pardon the punn lol
Oh!! ive just got 3 weeks of nights booked for me on agency. its a doddle too, night trunk from sunny Sussex upto coalville and back, done it before, back in bed at 4.30 in morning! Suits me sir. And £11 an hour.
Theres a few companies down here looking for drivers but generally its very quiet out there i was lucky did the cold calling bit and managed to come up with something
At the moment, in Sussex at least, it seems there is an absolute over-abundance of Jobs going, especially Class 2 long distance and Class 1 night trunking.
Pay seems to be good too, there’s always at least 10 of 'em advertised in the local rag and plenty online.
Its really tempting me to come off agency (no work so far this week) but to be honest I really wanted a flexible year as I’ve got plenty of stuff planned - but with the agencies being so dead I may have to go perm.

for this time ofyear things are diffrent /credit crunch /recession
just starting . i like to keep an eye on vacacancies up here ,and things havent taken of at all ,there seems to be a definitate downtrend in vacancies
round here,
as i promised the recession is starting ,(things aint right)
im agencey working at the moment , i remember the times id get 5 calls a day forget it . recession is here .****** again
Personally I’m worried.
We’ve had tight times in regards to the economy before in my time driving but there’s never been the factors we have now involved. THe credit crunch and the horrific fuel prices didn’t exist the last time. I think this year is the time to be getting out of agency work and getting a fulltime job if you can and riding it out.

No they’re not. Sent them my CV. They rang me on my mobile wanted me to do tankers after they’d seen my experience. Said I wanted to continue with Euro work. “All our work to Europe is high value loads you need to have worked for us for two years before we’ll put you on that work.” End of conversation.
