Ow [zb] off back to the pub and dont bother reading them
which would include postings on them as well
Whilst this topic is still running (sort of) what’s the score with being paid by companies outside the uk , do Irish and other euro companies just pay wages into your English account or is it best to open one in the country the company is based, as I’m presuming that they will pay in their local currency such as the euro
and that being the case you could loose on the exchange rate, or is there some exception with bacs payments?
I vaguely remember being told be someone who worked for HSF that they opened a bank account for in the isle of man, you of course got a debit card to get your wages out to spend anyone know how they pay you so you don’t get shafted by exchange rates?
And a very good question by tommy indead
The wages-
If one has to draw money from a cash point/macing in europe do they charge a comision for an exchange rate?
Dose your new employer take your bank detailes over the phone on that first phone iterview or what?
Being on the road all the time you wont be able to see your pay slips
so you cant rely tell if you are being screwed or not
How do you get your PODs back to the depot
I also have a big question about the TOLL ROADS
I presume they pay for that
But how do you pay when at the toll box
do they give you a card or do you pay cash and they pay into your bank account later or are you soposed to avoid toll road at all costs?

I would say when you go to pick the truck up you will be given cards and running money and alot of companies have tags for tolls, you post cmr(pods) back to the office and running money is put into your account when you send previous reciepts in and pay slips will probaly be posted.

firstly, if you work for a non uk co. you’d be paid in euro’s so there is no exchange rate when drawing from a european cashpoint.
secondly, payslips are back in the office for when you go back which is more often than you seem to think apart from that you’ve got their truck so trust on both sides
finally, tolls you really do ask silly questions batista. you pay for the tolls out of the kindness of your heart and even on occasion buy some fuel for the thanks of them giving you the job
of course tolls are paid, how do you think its done? all tolls and fuel are covered by card or tags, now instead of trying to find excuses why you won’t get a job just ring somebody up and offer your services but don’t ask them the same daft questions you’ve been asking on here or you won’t get a job

And i thought i was difficult
I think this chap would fit well in the box with all the other tools
Haven’t seen limeyphil for awhile maybe he could help with some answers for you.
It’s not rocket science, simply phone round a few companies and ASK. Worst they can do is tell you to ■■■■ off. There are quite a few Brits working for N.I. companies who have had nothing more than a quick phone interview. As for showing your license, I can’t remember the last time I showed mine to an employer.
You are worrying about very minor details without even checking there are any jobs available. Either you will make your way to N.I. first to sort everything out or you will collect the truck from the port. If so then fuel cards, running money, lessons on how to bluff your way through a VOSA checkpoint will all be given to you by another driver who will meet you on the first day.
And don’t worry about exchange rates, the last I checked my payslip it was in pounds sterling. Although if you happened to be paid in cash you may not be able to spend it in your local shop.
I was more concerned with how much you can end up loosing ,not only with the exchange rate if paid in euro, but bank charges for receiving foreign currency, they the banks ain’t supposed to charge but some do,
but i suppose if paid in euro ,a overseas bank account could be opened to pay wages into and then i could exchange only what i needed into Stirling, (to pay bills back in uk) leaving the rest in euro ,then if i used the debit card in another country in the euro zone no exchange rate rip off to worry about

Batty, why dont you ask Switcho
Holic if you could go for a “ride along” with him?? That way you can ask all the questions you want to and see how an Irish firm really works■■?
Or ask Welshboy if you could meet up with him next time he runs to the UK, he might have something to say to you!!
Just a thought.

Funny you should say that, some other voices, but not really impressions, make an appearance in the new few episodes of the current vid.
Haven’t been in here for a while (probs with laptop), and after following this thread i’ll probably cut my wrists, it must be a wind up surely. But if BATISTA whatever the name is wants a job with an NI company he can start with Boyles tomorrow, looking for 3 drivers immediate start, France and Italy. All that is required is a pulse and a satnav. I’ve worked there for a year and a bit and believe it or not i’ve never been asked to run bent in fact it is now a letter in the wage packet if there are any offences commited. Pity the bosses didn’t heed their own “new” rules. Money in the bank every friday no probs.
I’ve come to the conclusion he’s a wind up merchant, look at some of his posts on other topics.
asking where is ROI and whats a compass, getting boring now

Either that, or he really is that thick.

according to one of his posts in a topic about boyles he has already worked for them without them even seeing his licence■■?
even with companies that don’t observe the rules and regs, i can’t see that as it would be required by the insurance company
edit maybe he hasn’t yet worked for boyle int transport Quote from here :Boyle transport update from Carlile news & Star - EURO DRIVING FORUM (INTERACTIVE) - Trucknet UK
Batista230:
I wonder if Boyle Transport are still trading
If so i want to work there
Just tell them I live at the scene of crime
And I have to appear at Carlisle police station on bail soon for bypassing the electricity meter
I mean how do you think they would respond to that
Would a company trust someone who is criminally minded that way with 100 grand truck and 200 grand of freight
“Ow yes you are just the kind of employee we can trust on the other side of Europe with 300 grands worth of gear
Some one who is criminally minder enough to didal the electric meter im sure is criminally minder enough to didal a few taco graphs for us”
You never know we might even get to share the same sell togetherDo they send your HGV driver hours and red diesel offenders to one of those soft prisons with the nice prisoners inside like the tax evaders the computer hackers and the politician
Or is it all drooping bars of soap in the shower
