here is a tip re jobcentre / signing on situation > bite tongue (mentally) and agree 2 everything they request, if u really do need the money from them , as i currently do,it so back foots them , agreeing ,and nothing they will ask u to do will be anything more than annoying,(exeption being working for nothing , i may have 2 think long and hard re that one.when the argueing starts ,they usually will “win” re suspension of benifits etc etc,)re lack off other certs. remember you are entitlled to i.l.a.funding £200 towards training c.s.c.s.card? i ve got 2 courses now via same = 14 hours towards cpc AND AN OFFICIAL 1ST AID CERT1!can"t be bad .
When I got asked the question “Would you work for nothing” I asked “I need to money to give to the employer to employ me” which completely baffled them!
They asked for an example, so I picked the top job on their sheet thing they keep on the desk.
McDonalds Charing, £6.08 per hour, immediate start.
A round trip to there (30odd miles) in the rush hour traffic comes in at around £20 per round trip in my old banger.
An 8 hour shift (with an hour docked for “break”) leaves £42.56 before tax, which will take off about another third, leaving around £30 net. Pay for the fuel, and I get paid net £10 for a day’s work, with my working day being around 10 hours from leaving to coming home again. £1.00 per hour net! 
They told me that refusal to take offered jobs can result in the stopping of my benefits (like they do) and I asked for a sub per day to make my money upto the takehome minimum wage for 10 hours, or about £60.80 which resulted in them deciding that “Ok Mr, you don’t have to actually apply for THIS job after all!” 
If you don’t push back and argue the toss, they’ll expect you to shoot yourself, having bought the metal and crafted the bullet and provided the gun to boot! 
My wife is worried I might be catapulted into a local dingledangle tramping job where I’ll be away from home 4 days in exchange for earning just enough to have all my tax credits stopped. JC+ have taken a photocopy of my documents, including the licence but have failed to notice it’s got C+E on it, so methinks I’ll keep stumn for the moment. I really dont fancy being set up with delivery driving or some other similar mickey mouse outfit either!
At this rate, I’ll need to pop into my local church to have a word with the other JC+ to see if there’s any help from that direction!
