Just for clarification, when you say a “mobile shop”, in what sense is it mobile? Is it mobile in the sense of being road towable, does it have an engine etc?

Sounds like one of them market trader things you see in the Mall shopping centres Harry.
OP needs to get all the proper info and photo really
Yes, it does need more info, but the fact that something is described as a “mobile” something would tend to indicate that it was designed to be easily moved, and costing £11,000 to have it moved from London to Paris doesn’t really fit in with that.
You could probably rent an ordinary immobile shop in Paris for that.
I aren’t quoting for the job anyway but all he said was that its a mobile shop in kit form. It is transported to where it needs to be and then assembled there. The details and dimensions he gave me were sketchy to say the least. I’ve given him a few names to call for a quote and will post back how much he ends up paying when the job is done.
■■■■■ teeth I might be able to shave 5% off that £11k as you’re a TNUK member, just PM me the details and we’ll get onto it toute de suite
There’s no way he needs to be paying for a round trip if he uses someone who does it regularly as they’d always reload, if it’s 3.65 x < 3.00 x 3.65 we’d be on about £1900 and have permanent permits for that width and length (and greater)
The quotes are geting cheaper…harry at £1800 + ferries…Then theres one for £1300…so i am inviting the eastern bloc fraternity to give a quote, bear in mind it should be around the £200-£300 mark to be in with a chance
My mate phoned today, and told me there are 10 East Europeans parked in his depot in Belgium, they keep asking for work, and one got sent on a 3 hr drive, each way, to do a job, and got paid £40, to them its a good days money, fuel cost is paid by the company anyway, as they already sub for them, so guys, its affecting the other side of the water as well.
Another little story involves my mates son, hes training to be a mechanic, so dad asked around various garages to see whether there is a chance of a start for him as an apprentice, most said no, so when he asked in Belgium, they said, they could get a fully qualified polish mechanic, for half the price of an apprentice wage, so thats another industry suffering in the mire along with transport, building, farm work, feel free to add to the list.

I don’t think my hypothetical quote of £1,800 plus a ferry was too far wide of the mark when jj72, who does this type of thing for a living, quoted £1,900.
I think the main difference is Harry jj will have something back guaranteed as its His market, you will be taking a chance so imho you where too cheap.
Personally i quote low loader and specialist work to be paid for both ways, that way if a backload fails im not arsed and if i get one its a bonus, i would not entertain for a second specialist work either on a one way price or even cheap, to my mind thT defeats the idea of specialist transport , admitesdly i have 6 low loaders and they arent busy but i dont see the point of being busy and cheap theres already enough of that on general

Can’t see how you’d get much European work quoting empty back - I’m told I’m too cheap once for roughly every hundred I’m told we’re expensive but it’s more about making it all fit together; one lad last week loaded stuff ex storage in our yard Monday, tipped Hamilton Tuesday, loaded Glasgow, tipped Tamworth and loaded Lichfield Wednesday, tipped Paris centre Thursday afternoon, loaded Paris and was in yard late Friday - all decent but not silly rates, and totally separate jobs for different customers
Well you done well there then mate, all mine would have been empty back.

Good stuff you always managed to beat my rates on Mark Barton’s work by a hell of a margin I have to say though
Ha ha, thats not the type of conversations i have with him, rather the opposite he thinks, that they all get there by magic !
