Job Centre

I have been looking on the job centre website. I know i know the pay is rubbish. Class 1 usually lower than i am being paid for class 2 with the agency. But my question is this, a lot of the driving jobs class 1 or 2, tramping what ever; usually say that the job is exempt from the working time directive. I thought no one was exempt, except O/D for the time being. Am i right?.

Others here will verify, or otherwise this but as a full time employed Professional Driver then the WTD applies to you.

The exceptions are:

O/D’s up to 2009 providing they meet certain criteria.
Occaisional Drivers who do not do more than:
11 duties in 17 weeks or 16 duties in 26 weeks whichever rolloing period they are using.
Night workers who opt out by collective agreement.

That’s what i thought. So why do they say “This job is exempt from the working time directive”?.

Possibly because at the time the ad was written it was exempt. The WTD only comes into force today or next week or whenever it is ( I can’t keep up with it), so at the time as drivers were emempt from the WTD they were quite within their rights to say it was exmpt. However, ad’s over the next few days should not have it in, and all those that do should have it removed. You gonna tell em or shall I. :smiling_imp:  :smiling_imp:
