it really don’t matter how you ask fella its all the same really. My old man always said “If you don’t ask You’ll never Know”
Just get out there and ask knock on doors pass CV’s about do on line applications and attach CV’s just remember with a CV keep it relevant, If its flat work make the point you’ve done flat work if its Hiab and you have a Hiab make the point same for ADR etc if you don’t get their attention in the 1st sentence I find they wont bother reading any further.
Good luck
Okay thank you for the advice. i have got my class 1,2,3 in ADR in and out of tanks but the only other problem is i am only 20 so i am not sure if that is going to affect anything with class 1 because i have been hearing rumors they dont take on class 1 drivers unless your 25+ and sorry to be thick what is flat work i would either have st work of Fking S**t work lol

Flat work … Flat bed trailer rope and sheet.
Then you have Curtainsiders
Then Containers , Box work ie fridge work etc your age is only a minor problem as even a 44 yr old driver will have the same problem as Ex armed Service drivers all have the same problem lack of Civilian work ethics
Make sure you really up to date on driver hours regs and working time directive.
Don’t worry about the two year experience, what may be the negative is your age. You won’t know till you ask .

would a more suitable position be a class 2 job and the experiences i have had within the army carrying loads are quite extensive from heavy loads to fuel tankers to curtain side and refrigerator units heavy machinery , plant machinery all sorts really and many more but are you saying this experience isn’t really taken into consideration because of the military back ground and not civilian orientated work
May I ask are you entitled to a resettlement package? I see your 20 and that means you’ve only done 2 years colour service. Are you leaving on medical grounds? Iv just left the army after 12 years thought voluntary redundancy pm me and I’ll give you some advice
Depends on what you want to do. Either way it doesn’t alter your age if that is a concern to a particular possible future employee. Work should steadily increase this time of year & there is usually plenty of multidrop work particularly on class 2, can be hard going, & each to their own, suits some & not others. Not all employers are worried about the age . There are also 7.5 t jobs around , always an option.
