Aha !
Another success for Viking Industries Detective Division.
Possibly driving for a little company with the initials S & J P, I’ve never worked for them but I know a few of their drivers & ex drivers. They’ve been doing that run for at least 20 years I reckon.

Jeez, are you one of The Borg then?
We supposed to be job and knock plus overtime but getting the bar stewerds to pay it is another matter. Salaried at 50 hrs then o/t usually a week is about 46 hrs but when we ask for o/t due to delays/breakdowns its like asking Mr Bumble “please sir can I have some more” then a comment of well such and such has done it in under a certain time and they then quote take your time. This is from a very well known red lorry operator (frog owned). We are going to hourly pay but then they will moan we are taking too long and soon shorten the shifts why can’t they make there ■■■■■■■ minds up. I want safety not rushing (which I do not do). Espically with gas cylinders.
Worked with a company a few years back on night trunk and we were paid hours we worked with no problems then we got a new transport manager and he decided he wanted the trucks back earlier for loading for the dayshift so we were getting j&k net result every one was sitting with there foot to the floor, more scrapes and damage and then after 6 weeks he stopped it and went back to to the old way but the times we done in the 6 weeks became the allotted times for the job!.
jimboy124 do you work for TNT? Do you know Damien Lang? That job is proper dead mans shoes isn’t it?
I’m on Job and Knock paid for 45 hours and every second Saturday time and half. I don’t drive like a man possessed I make up my time at drops instead. I see it that if I get out and get done I’m guaranteed my overtime every other week.
I’d love to be paid hourly but it will never happen as there’s too many who would milk it for all it’s worth!
It’s easy to forget the early finishes when you have a few late ones!
sat on my sofa at midday buggering about on the internet■■?..whilst being paid a full shift. Job and Knock rules!
I’m salaried for 40 hours , I sometimes finish late but usually get to go early other days , j&k seems to come into play when it suits, I had days where back in the yard for 3 & told might aswell go home, other times I’ve been kept back till finish doing nothing, now I don’t race for the early finish , I’ll have an hour in a layby somewhere & go back at 4ish & finish usual time …

Back at 2:30 (nipped through Cheltenham on way back to talent spot near the ladies’ college) and had to hang on for a transport dept meeting. Although this was done in the garden of the pub just down the road from the mill. Couple of shandys and nibbles paid for by the company too.

Muckaway:
Following on from the 15 hour day thread, I thought it’d be interesting to ask about this.
My week is based on 55 hours/week. It nearly always exceeds this and to me this is working for free. I think J&K encourages speeding and hours fiddles, what does everyone else think?
yes agree about the fiddles and with regards to you exceeding your salaried hours my word to boss would be pay me the o/t or ■■■■ off and find another mug.
