Salary: £32,000.00 /year

Salary: £32,000.00 /year

You won’t have room for overtime if it’s a 55 hour week, with 7 hours of it as POA to start with.
“Could” means YOU pay THEM, whilst getting the licence, then THEY pay YOU as a “Trainee” whilst they give you work assignments on their agency, and at the end of it? - They imply they’ll get you that £32k job. Why would they do that? Better to keep them on a 55 hour week for £28k inclusive of everything, and keep them hanging on until that £32k job comes along - which of course it does IF you’ve got references for the two year’s experience you’d need to get such a job. They are out there - don’t get me wrong. (I’ve got one of them!) I don’t think you should get the experience from an outfit that will then conspire to “keep you with them” though. :bulb:

If you’re a fresh licence holder - get your two years by working for your choice of agency (one that just gives you the high-hourly-rate work no quibble) and then apply for jobs after two years, stating that you’ve worked in x y z firms these past two years on a continuous basis, which then qualifies you as “Experienced”.

Such work will involve extensive work for Supermarkets for both Class one and two. Swallow your pride folks! Experience is Experience!

EIther that, or get yourself in with a firm that does all kinds of specialist haulage work. They’ll train you their way, and that kind of experience is valuable.

Which brings me to another point I recently took another job that sounded great when I went for the interview but when I actually got in there I got the full picture and basically the job was crap so naturally I started trawling through the job ads to see what else was about and got the usual agency after agency ads so I thought sod this. I googled local transport firms in my area and decided to give them a call and all but 1 had jobs available one of which sounded promising and iv got an interview Saturday morning… Iv realised to take what the tm says with a pinch of salt and come to terms that it’s always a gamble when you move jobs whether you will like it or not But I’m not afraid to move on and eventually I will settle down in a job that suits me

They bought out the firm I used to work for in Burntwood. I took the redundancy.

A mate of mine from the original firm, that I still talk to does nights for them. He says they are ok to work for. The office/warehouse staff are meant to be quite good but the main bloke is, shall we say, a little bit temperamental.

I’m lead to believe they try and get you back every night and that they don’t do tramping in anyway, if that is what you are after.

I’m also told it’s a lot of visits to palletways in Fradley amongst the work they took over from us.

I know they certainly seem to run a lot of deckers. Probably more than single decks.

I’m also led to believe they pay slightly above average for the area.

If you do take the job and need any advice regarding the old work we used to do just drop me a line and I’ll try and help as some of it can be a bit of a ■■■■ if you don’t know the drop. (You will know which firm I used to work for if/when you start).

Kieren.
