Jinxed vehicles

How many have vehicles in their fleet that have more than the fair share of problems? The 1 in the our depot has just broken down for the 2nd time in 3 weeks with hook lift problems. 1st time a sensor problem this time “rodent erosion” (rats gnawing through wiring causing short circuits and fuses blowing), then there are the number of times it has been hit by other plant while stationary.

We have many cursed motors as they have pallet ways on the side or daily do pallet ways runs [emoji6][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

A fair bet troublesome motors are hammered, driven hard over speed humps etc, constantly on the brakes, driven fast through standing water, never allowed to warm up or cool down, not looked after, levels not checked from one month to the next.

If a batch of new vehicles is issued, you know which vehicles are going to have problems and which ones are likely to be totally reliable due to who they were issued to, even if they are not the only driver.

I’m a believer that vehicles like ships and aircraft and trains somehow have a soul almost like living people and it can be evil/jinxed or good/lucky or somewhere in between.

i knew a chap nickname was JINXEY , he was given a brand new Vw van and within the 1st week he had snapped the handbrake clean off the floor . In an earlier episode in another van on the M25 he blew the engine AND the gearbox at the same time

Years ago we had a 7-5 ton roadrunner that was re cabbed twice , first time it went down a ditch , then the second time it ran up the arse of something , new cab was put on then I was gotten rid of , so yea I do believe that some motors are jinxed

We’ve got one, mine in fact.

Every week there’s something wrong with it. 2014 Range T, 1 of 2 in the fleet, the other is no issue.

This year so far;

Camshaft
2no injectors
Ad Blue injector
Ad Blue pump
Cab tilt locks and sensors
Fuel pump
10 litres of oil, after a service
Prop shaft bearing
Batteries
Starter cable
Hydraulic tipping hose
60 litres of hydraulic oil
Exhaust

And that’s only what I’ve taken it in for!!

There is a term called “vehicle sympathy” Unfortunately some drivers don’t know the meaning of it. After all it’s not their vehicle and they like to drive from A to B as fast as they can thinking they are the best driver in the world. :unamused:

One day they may realise their foolishness.

A burnt out clutch because someone doesn’t know how to drive isn’t the same thing as refusing to drive a truck because it doesn’t drive ( brake ) ‘right’ and in fact just felt evil.Which then killed a different driver by jacknifing off the side of a motorway flyover bridge involving no other vehicles.

Then there are examples like this.

Where did I say it was the same■■? I was simply talking about some drivers not having vehicle sympathy. :unamused:

Sorry Jakey, I find myself responding to your every post lately, usually after a upwards nod of the head, roll of the eyes with a ‘‘Ffs not again’’ …I really should just ignore it.

Are you on some kind of a bet with somebody, where you have to tenuously link and shoehorn in a comment about poor driving?
What has fast driving and high self opinion to do with a perceived jinxed motor ? :open_mouth:
If I asked you what Newcastle’s chances of beating Wolves on Sunday were, I suppose you would say along the lines of…
‘Quite good, home advantage but it will depend on Wolves’s bus driver, I’ve noticed how bus drivers today are totally irresponsible on the road, so if the passengers have a rough ride Newcastle should get 3 points easy.
I think the bus test should be harder and the driver calibre improved’’ …

My apologies I should have probably made my self clearer. I was responding to the fact some other poster had mentioned the fact that vehicles reliability depends on the way a driver drives the vehicle. Comprende now?

I notice about the poor standard of bus drivers too (in UK) but I am afraid a lot of lorry drivers are just as bad. Strange you don’t mention that.

So yes the vocational test should be far more stringent and experienced drivers resit then standards may improve.

Aye ok  …, but I’m going to keep testing you to win your bet.

And ironically a reference to the reputation of a WW2 German Battleship being absolutely relevant.

The Sharnhorst was an example of a jinxed ship in that case while a truck wrecked by someone who can’t drive isn’t.

You just can’t grasp simple English Carryfast. Try to understand what is being said instead of what is going on in that strange head of yours.

We had a ‘ghost bus’ because it was involved in more than one fatal.
I wouldn’t say we had jinxed vehicles, just vehicles that weren’t FIXED properly because engineering were crap, so they would keep breaking down all the time.
