I think that fits into the category of the issue which kr raised concerning not everyone followed exactly the same path in life or had exactly the same opportunities and goals.Which is why the police aren’t having to sort out complaints by the entire population of the early 1970’s generation of underage teenage women at the time,.Everyone had a different experience.
But the fact is,in my own case,the problem was the combination of not going to a mixed school,wanting to be in a stable relationship/marriage and start a family by the age of 20 (which is (rightly) a common choice for many blokes who think it’s important to give their kids as young a mother as possible),and a generation of women,which in my experience were massively outnumbered by the amount of blokes and in which at least some/too many of the possible choices,were into older blokes,not me,to do that with,at best.While others were just groupies into the Savile’s and Gary Glitters etc of this world not me,at worst shows that it wans’t me who was being ‘too fussy’.It was just an unfortunate combination of circumstances that was compounded by a total swing back in societal attitudes against age gap relationships so having lost out when I was young I then lost out again as I got older.
Reading your description,of your search criterea when you were younger,it doesn’t seem like you were looking for a young wife at the time as I was.Although having said that it’s difficult to understand how you’d got to the stage of meeting a girl’s parents and still not knowing how old she was at that point. When common sense would suggest that it’s that point when things,would probably be at the stage,when a relationship would be taken forward to the physical stages because if she’s underage then any sensible parent would certainly make you aware of the fact. Which certainly doesn’t seem to have been what was on the agenda of those so called ‘young’ pop ‘stars’ that Max Clifford is trying to defend.
As for shortages of women or otherwise if I’ve read it right in your case it probably shows that the reputation of Essex being the best place for picking up willing birds has always been deserved.While Surrey was obviously more about too many of the few young girls we had,being locked away in all girls schools when not at home,or ‘approved schools’ and only allowed out when Savile came calling for them where they were or to join him and all the rest of the paedos at the BBC.With at least one of those who didn’t get taken by them preferring my choice of a decent marriage and kids before she was 20 but no surprise it was a middle aged divorcee who got the girl not me .

It’s anyone’s guess what Savile was looking for but I think that description probably fits many of those other tv ‘presenters’ and pop ‘stars’ it’s just that like me they were bit more specific about the age range that they were looking for although not for the same honourable reasons as me.
But the reputation of Essex girls seems to go with the idea that trying to find an Essex girl here was a bit like counting the Labour Party votes on our County Council.

So you went to Laos ,after the yanks had tried and failed get rid of the zb place,and then found an Essex girl there. When I couldn’t even find one in Surrey. I think what I’ve been saying fits in with your grandad’s views more than anything to do with an alien conspiracy.
But there’s a big difference,between making the ( obvious to anyone with even a bit of intelligence) link,concerning the arranged Royal so called ‘meeting’ and relationship,between the pushing 30 Charles and the 15 year old (maybe even younger) Diana Spencer and the goings on at the BBC during the 1970’s,compared to anyone believing that there’s ET’s out there coming to get us.
