My sister, who lives in France, went over to Jersey for a couple of days over Xmas. She said that there are no natives of Jersey working in any hotel or bars/restaurants or shops. The staff are all Lithuanian or Polish, even in Morrisons supermarket. They were speaking to a brit who lives there and they said there are no jobs for the locals, and their kids have to go to either the UK or France for work. So got me thinking, it’s only a matter of time before the schools on Jersey are non english speaking, and it becomes an Eastern European country.
i thought they were Portuguese in jersey , well they were in aug
There may well be Portugese as well.

Same as East Kent then.
When I was in Jersey I noticed a lot of foreign waiters and bus drivers as well.I believe that they had a big influx of Portugese gardeners just after the war.
Jersey folk and ■■■■■■■ weird. They can’t seem to understand they’re English and keep referring to England as of it’s a foreign country
I have visited Jersey and found the climate to be excellent the people very friendly an helpful and the pace of life to be very relaxed, I was on a bus when an elderly lady got on and the driver would not move off until someone had given her their seat, never seen that anywhere else.
My most favorite thing about Jersey above everything above was their total ban on caravans.

They do have their own Government, who make the rules for the Island.
If you visit Jersey, you can bring home Duty Free goods.
Yes but the balliwick is a crown dependency. We own it

Yes we do own it but they run it.
They have a saying about the locals. They call them Jersey Beans.
And I agree they are a little weird
its always been ‘’ foreign labour’’ that has worked in the hotels and service industry and hospitals on jersey in the 60’s and 70’ it was flush with English and Irish workers .
