Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus Christ! That was close!

Just… WOW!

Advertising feature. Makes me retch. Wouldn’t use it as bog roll.

The guy who filmed it, uploaded it, and is making a song and dance of it? He owns a car accessories shop… :unamused: selling? Dash cams. … yes.

I get the advertising line, but it was a real situation and it was a very very VERY close call!

Had she not ducked out of the way, she would have one hell of a headache!

If you have wild tail swing like that and you can’t open your steering to negate it then you really need to be mindful of pedestrians, street furniture etc.

She has good spidey sense!

Really? I have not looked at it close up, but perspective can make simple things look death defying (ask the Red Arrows… ) .

I smell a rat.

!

You know that, I know that, and most on here know that.
So why do they let clueless types that do not know that, who are a danger to the public and themselves, loose in anything bigger than a Transit van?

Hopefully a wake up call to the zb wit truck configuration legislators that designing trucks for Italian mountain roads,by minimising cut in at the expense of tail sweep, doesn’t work on Brit streets. :unamused:

I’m confused, can you clarify how the eco-fascist neo cons, aided by Franco-Bliarite appologists have infiltrated the truck design world?

It’s complicated,so like the legislators you’ll never get it.A bit like the driver of the truck. :smiling_imp:

That and firstly make sure that you don’t allow for too much non existent cut in thereby creating too much tail sweep,on the approach to the turn.

While if the designers put it all/most of it on the cut in,not only does it help weight distribution it also stops drivers being lulled into the false sense of security of taking on mission impossible turns on the basis of out of sight out of mind.Or not having to concentrate on both sides so much as just one. :bulb:

^^ this. Get out of Europe, and bring back the Chinese Six.

The most important thing is though, that no cyclists were hurt in the making of this video

the nodding donkey:
bring back the Chinese Six.

It’s more of an issue of where the rear axle/s are placed and the resulting amount of rear overhang.

Blimey proof that they really are in more danger while cycling on the pavement. :open_mouth: :smiling_imp:

Got bugger all to do with where the axles are placed on the truck. The truck used was too small for that container. While it may be legal it don’t make it right. I shudder everytime I see a David Watson or similar type going down the road with a smallish rigid and an empty office container hanging 10ft off the back. Even if its all marked up etc its still chuffing dangerous!

The truck HAS to suit the load its transporting.

Surely Carryfast would not want them to be allowed back in if they have already been deported, send them to Germany

It would be interesting to confirm exactly what the relationship is there between the container and the load deck.

IE what are we actually looking at under the rear end of the container. Is that a just light bar or is it an extendable load deck which is what it looks like.If it’s the former what is anchoring the container at what should be the rear locks. While if it’s the latter it’s obviously a case of too much load length capacity combined with too short wheelbase creating too much over hang. The wheel base probably determined by the stupid cut in limits.

Eeeeeerm the kind that like to save money?!

It doesn’t matter a rat ■■■■ CF, which of your scenarios it is, the outcome is the same.

That load is fine on that truck going from major trunk point to major trunk point. It is not okay doing 90 degree turns in town centre.

This was down to penny pinching that’s all. But plenty of ‘em do it. They put 30’ offices on 20’ beds. Hell I’ve seen 40’ containers on 30’ beds too. Just as bad.

I’ve always worked on “if it looks wrong, it probably is” I don’t care if I can do it by the letter of the law.

Exactly. In either case we’ve got laws that are too pre disposed to allowing too much overhang in all cases.Whether in this case or stupid steering tag set ups etc etc.In all cases we’ve got an institutionalised design and construction and use problem based on the excessive minimising of cut in at the expense of excessive tail sweep.

Love the way the Daily Fail describe the truck, which they cannot trace, as being a ‘20 tonne truck’. How the hell do they know how big it is?

Always scroll through these articles to have a laugh at the truck description - 7.5 tonners being described as ‘Juggernauts’, and vehicle weights and sizes being pulled out of the arse of whichever dumb bimbo writes the article…
