JBT Transport in Bathgate

Anyone had any dealings with them?

Done a search earlier and didn’t see anything but a quick google threw up a few threads from a few years back, doesn’t look too promising

Manager wants me to give him a call, no details apart from double manned 4 nights a week, no harm in hearing what is on offer I suppose

On my blacklist right under pollocks. I wont go near them

There’s your red flag right there!

I did a bit for them out of Dalcross, least said the better !! :frowning:

---------- DON’T! ----------

Avoid do not go near them worse than pollocks.

one nearly wrote me off in a forest up near Inverness whilst loading mushroom bull stein for drinkwaters at Lancaster :grimacing: did ask him if he was blind jock ■■■■■ :grimacing:

Is that the outfit that were MRS ?
If so they did not have the best of reputations then from what was told by one of their drivers I knew.

Further to my earlier answer…

About three years ago I heard from someone in a position to know, that JBT Dalcross had gone through 47 drivers in 9 months.
At the time, JBT Dalcrss were running 3 rigids and 2 Artics.

At the same time, they were reported to the Employment Agency for an advert they were running which read (essentially), “£19k for up to 60 hours a week with nights out”. For a class one, with full ADR!!

They (still!) expect their drivers to work the maximum hours and it’s not unusual for them to send their drivers back out (“it’s only a quick drop”) when they stagger in after 13+ hours on the road.
I still regularly see the lorries: it is always a different driver.
FYI… they now pay £22k… up to 60 hours etc.
Think the expression is Pole, Barge, Wouldn’t, With, A, Touch.

Correct! MRS bought JBT then JBT bought MRS

Its been quite a few years since I last did a shift there and that was a shambles. It was a weekend so only security on site. I had a unit and trailer allocated but the unit was half empty (on site fuel had been dry for weeks due to them not paying their fuel bill) so I had to find one with enough fuel in it. Then I found my trailer which was loaded so I was told to go round and find an empty reefer. There wasn’t any so I had to get access to the warehouse and find an electric pallet truck with some charge in it and tip my original trailer (a tesco trailer) and toddle off to coatbridge for a load from boots. After the 3rd drop was loaded I started to question it because I knew these shops as a double manned wagon and drag job which I had done before when I was a regular at boots. It is at this point that I am informed that I am only trunking to dalcross, not actually delivering the load :unamused:

On another occasion I picked up an empty reefer from dalcross and was unexpectedly sent to Perth to collect hanging meat on my way back which was no big deal since it was just off the A9 anyway. While this is being loaded I get another call asking where I am and why I am there. Not really sure what answer he expected from me other than BECAUSE I WAS SENT HERE TO PICK THIS LOAD UP BY SOMEONE ELSE IN YOUR OFFICE

Not necessarily the worst job I have ever been sent to but more hassle than its worth when you are taking calls from 2 guys in the same office who clearly are not talking to each other. I seem to remember being sent into their warehouse to look for somebody regarding my load and then getting a ticking off by someone else for being in the warehouse. Confusion and contradiction seems to be common in there or at least was at the time (6 or so years ago)

You are correct, and if my recollection is correct they went owing sums to various groups including Renault and workers.
Didn’t one of their drivers get done for drink driving on “traffic cops” tv programme.

Out of interest didn’t Bibbys buy or have something to do with the takeover of MRS ■■?

When on for Nisa we were based in JBT’s yard at Dalcross and when I handed my notice in and word got around 4 of JBT’s drivers applied for it. Then I changed my mind as the job I was going to do In a shipyard in Holland was delayed for a few months so I retracted it and stayed. That ■■■■■■ off a couple of drivers

When MRS went bang, bibbys swiped in and got two major contracts off them. Tuped the staff over.

JBT got the rest.

I’ve had a lot of dealings with JBT down the years way back when they where based in that ■■■■■■■■■ at Westfield. The whole MRS thing in my opinion was extremely dodgy. I’m no saying it was illegal but I’m saying when MRS bought JBT I think they knew they’d go bust in a year. Eradicate all the debt and JBT gets all the assets and contracts for buttons.

As for the op wanting to know what they are like to work for well no great. You never know when you are going home, spotty office teenagers bark orders at you. Work for buttons, drive substandard kit.

It’s a job for DR10s. The area is well populated with well paying jobs Aldi, tesco,Iceland, bookers, nisa I’d try one of them.

Only time I’d work for JBT is if it was that or the dole but it would only be a stop gap till I found summit decent.

Think the dole would be preferable

The one where the driver wanted to get his licence from his cab and the officer wouldn’t let him because the driver was arousing suspicion? I am fairly sure it was Angus Nairn and a pollocks driver who had a cab full of empty beer bottles

Back when they were MRS they brought out new contracts. Banked overtime for something like 26 weeks. Guess what happened not long after 26 weeks? Shut down yep. Not a penny seen. 70 odd hours a week for 390 top line. 18 per night out

You would have to be a prat to want to work there.

Enough said?

Scanny you must have been there when I was there. Were you the guy with the limp and LIDL bag? Lol
