I know, they went through a bit of a rough patch last year, as did a lot of firms, a lot of the lads were put on 3 day weeks. Then things picked up for them and everything seemed to be going well this year then this ! I know quite a few lads on there so will try and get some more info…
Blimey, does anyone know the cause of it yet?
Seems its already made youtube…

Looks quite a major event…

Such a shame as was only up there last week for a collection. Good bunch of people and very friendly
They had got 45 trucks park there, including brand new one due on the road tomorrow, they saved 17
,They think it was arson
Breedy.
I used to deliver to their place on Cotton Way on a regular basis.
Always a huge pile of plastic waiting to be processed back then.
I really hope they can get back on their feet as quickly as possible.
Kids mucking about perhaps?
akaday on here works for them and reckons its was best job he’s had. iirc they were opposite a printers i used to collect from called sunlines.
It started at 8pm last night and when i came home at lunch time from a week away we could see the smoke from the A46/A6 island at birstall, not sure on current state but there is still smoke about and a hell of a lot of fire engines about!
I Was told it started around midnight and got reported by the polish security guard.
Breedy.
the local rag says just before midnight local word was 8pm ish!
Either way its catastrophic for the company, I know a few lads that only started about a month ago, so wonder how they stand ! Probationary period an all that, last in first out policy… !
Jerry’s got more factory that can cover this one, its just the truck he might struggle with.
Breedy.
they collect out of our place i know each artic load is ruffly £1000 they have some good lads also hope they come back from this ok

Correct
Was a proper big fire, photos and videos have been all over facebook since it started last night about 8pm,the entire industrial estate is locked down by police and the A6 was still shut earlier, thick smoke causing zero visibility on the road.Shepshed now honks of burnt plastic too and can still see the smoke coming up.Local rumour is it was arson, but nothing definite yet.Possible though as it’s next to the playing fields where the local hooligans love taking stolen cars/bikes…
Just had an update from a mate who went into work at Youngies today, was sent home today, But regarding wagons, none were damaged just a few cracked windscreens, even trailers survived. Just garages offices wharehouses totally floored…
good news gunner.
Hi all, Yeah bad news at the loss of TMAT yard as we call it, 4 Trucks damaged but only light damage. They managed to get in the yard and move the trucks out before the fire really took hold.
Was worried for my jobs as a few others were but no lay offs as ive heard is wrote elsewhere, we all got a call monday saying no work and full pay for tuesday, i said if they needed me for anything just call me (and i’m sure a few others did) so tuesday got a call at half ten to come in and grab a trailer out of TMAT that survived, place was still alight but only just so the fire crew shut off main hoses for me to go in. Only a handfull of drivers didn’t come in tuesday as they had made plans.
All singing and dancing as norm but the other depots are feeling the strain and there is bound to be a little stress here and there.
The support that local firms and volvo have gave what with offering us a pit to use till we are sorted has been great, nice to see that people have pulled together to help (Jerry) Mr Young out if needed.
Hope this update helps.
Cheers
Day.
@Gunner, I’m guessing your main mate at ours is Mr NB. Nice bloke is N.
reminds me of when primark burn’t to the ground at magna park.
whole place was levelled in an hour or so.i wonder how many companies are covered for this kind of thing, not just the buildings but everything else.
