Heading home from Sittingbourne yesterday down the A249 went under a bridge at the bottom of the hill near Detling and seen this bridge with Jade’s crossing and a ballerina on it. Anyway later on when I was stopped I googled it and what a sad story it was.
This mother wanted a bridge because she feared a child would die crossing the busy road but little did she know how right she would be, unfortunately it was her child and her Gran who got killed
I’m sure a lot of you know the road well but first time I’ve been that way for years and it touched me.
I’m just a soft git at times I suppose.
A sad story indeed, two soft gits.
ssh, don’t tell anyone but lots of us roughy toughy truckers are soft buggers underneath it all.
There’s a bit here on it… google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source … muyOPqBipA
Not sure why the 50mph speed limit goes right up to the top of the hill some distance away from the village, oh yes, I remember now, so the five-O can sit and the top with their speed camera van fleecing motorists.

Or maybe because there’s a bend half way down the hill plus it’s alot easier to slow down at the top of a descent than it is at the bottom. But there again as we’re all professional drivers here, we all know the old maxim of going down a hill at the same speed you’d go up it
It is a sad tale, a young girl and her grandmother killed as they crossed the A249.
Having said that, I have driven beneath Jade’s Crossing hundreds, probably thousands of times and have never once seen anybody using it.
