Jackknifed lorry? can you see it?

The Highway Man:
HATOs seen working in both photos, not sat in the services keeping warm drinking coffee!!!

What you cannot see, because it is just out of shot at the bottom of th picture, is the fully heated mobile HATO coffee shop truck which is decked out with a really comfy sofa and maid service …

… I might go for a break now…

This was one of ours on the M8 just before crimbo. I actually took the photo of the telly whilst it was on news at 10, hence the picture quality. At least the driver was okay…if just a little stained, if you know what I mean

not a great picture but I took this on the M4 with the iphone, (mounted on the dash)

was Tuesday I think

you didn’t happen to see the name of the company on that truck did you??

That is incredible woody2808 the unit looks like it is stopping the trailer from falling into that ditch even further. Very lucky escape :open_mouth:

Anyone see the FedEx artic on the A449 south of Monmouth on Wednesday morning, jackknifed and went down the embankment, cab looked pretty intact…bet he had to get a change of underwear pronto!!!

Looks very much like Tomsetts of Newhaven…why am i not surprised!

Sorry , didnt see the name on the wagon ,

ROG:

Is there a side road to the left where the truck has emerged from but failed to stop due to slippy surface ?

That’s the southbound on slip onto the A1(M) at the A690 Durham interchange, ROG.
About half way down the slip road the downhill gradient levels out and the second half of the slip road and the motorway itself is on an upward gradient.
I would suspect that the driver was caning it down the slip road to gather momentum to negotiate the uphill gradient when he spun out due to the condition of the slip road.

Driver right a jackknife? I was always told thats impossible , maybe the bits on the floor are the bits that came off when he hit the wires.

Not impossible, but with Euro specced trucks a jackknife tends to rip much of the cab off so it won’t drive. As long as there is traction they will come out of it, and if it is with a NA spec truck then backwards is usually the key, although it does depend on how hard it has hit.

Now that was a close call, wouldn’t of liked to see that go over. Bet he was still sh***ing himself whislt climbing out! Good that it was a good out come for the driver.

i know what has happened there…

the jack knifed lorry is actually around the corner shown in the picture, and the lorry in the picture is blocking the road for safety reasons so that the idiots in the cars don’t go round there too fast and hit it

I was in the tailback while they recovered the truck and IIRC he was in the central reservation just b4 the on slip
