I jacked a job similar to that. I was waking up with headaches every morning and didnt realise what a negative impact it was having on me and my mood at home.
Best thing I ever did was to walk.
My g/f used to be the controler for our skip lorrys now accounts manager but ocasionly covers the desk for holidays etc.
them days i usualy go to the pub for an hour or two after work as shes a different person.
not an easy job customers an managers on your case and drivrrs all think your bullying them.
Good luck and take care Mark

I have worked on the traffic desk for about two years at a skip company, there have been some real highs and extreme lows in the job, the worst part about the job is when a driver lies to you about doing a job then you back them up only to have the customer go off on one, you feel like a punch bag! But when you manage to pull the rabbit out of the bag and get that job covered it feels good.
I hope you find the right job to keep the wife happy, it is difficult to get the work/life balance right.
up buxton dan , where men are men and the sheep are nervous .

ain’t the nervous sheep in Wales■■?
not all of them , no self respecting buxton driver goes out without good wellies and a spare fanbelt .

Today, well 4.10am,jacked my job as a planner, just couldnt stand the stress it was causing on myself and my marriage. Don
t blame me gaffer, hes the same as everyone else, struggling to get drivers, it
s the constant moaning and complaining from the people we pull for that finally did it for me. How the bloody hell can the bints in a sales/distribution office for a major multi-national company not have a bloody clue where anywhere is and not have a clue about what the job they are giving out entails. Anyway after another sleepless night and another row with the wife I decided enough is enough. So for the first time in my whole working life,35years, I jacked.
So now it`s time to do something I enjoy, driving. Job hunting will start Monday, for now pub time.
I also ended 2 and a half years as a planner today and totally agree with your sentiments. The majority of the customers I could not stick, hate is not a word I use likely, but I HATED most of them
The non stop phones ringing a problem every 2 minutes with a driver or customer’s cardboard delivery being 10 minutes late, pathetic bunch of ■■■■■.
Start my new job on bulkers on monday, I cannot explain the relief and joy of not having to deal with all that ■■■■ any more.
.
Ahh, probably explains why I haven’t seen you in a while! Funnily enough I passed your chippy in Thornhill again this week and thought of you.
All the best Mark.
Our planner he dont have a clue where anything is or how long it takes to get job done
But to be fair he never on phone to us drivers gives us the job then leaves us to get on with it simple
He passed his car test not long ago not sure how he find his way from home to yard dont ask him to go down to the workshop he would get lost even though only a few miles down the road
I could never work in the office would drive me crazy
Are you going to give Dickie a ring…

Take it you mean Dinky, if so might not be the wisest move at the moment.
