£7.80 per glorious hour !!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Zb that, general supermarket bod can earn more:lol:

They were paying £8.55 an hour in 2008, then they changed the pay structure in 2009 and reduced it to £7.35 per hour but then paid £10 per day tax free meal allowance if you spent more than 10 hours away from base. This could be a straight ten or two five hour periods.

Thanks for all the repiles folks!!!

I think pimpdaddy has hit the nail on the head…“zb that”.

A lot of drivers are of the 50 ish age ,by then mortgages, kids are gone ,so money isn’t the priority,it’s more about having a job you enjoy getting up too go too ,that gives you the time off to enjoy yourself and do the things you haven’t been able too do whilst you has mortages / kids growing up too pay for .

Doesn’t sound like that though does it?

Brilliant, so you lose £1.20 an hour, and gain £10 per day only when you’re at work.

Look at it like this, £1.20 x 60 hrs = £72.
£72 x 48(wks) = £3456.
£1.20 x 40 = £48.
£48 x 4(wks hol) = £192.
£3456 + £192 = £3648.

Then this, 260 - 28 = 232 working days.
£10 x 232 = £2320.

So take £2320 - £3648 = £1328 loss off earnings

Even with the tax and ni deducted I still you’re out off pocket, and that assuming you only average 60 hours a week, I think you’d be doing more  so the loss would be greater :unamused:

What bright spark thought off that :unamused:

Unlikely that the guy had paid his mortgage,he was a thirty odd year old flip flop.

So no mortgage and if out all week you just B&B on a Saturday/Sunday night.

eagerbeaver, you have PM

i used to work there.

you get a travis perkins job out of kings lynn, 10/12 drops. you have 2 drops left you start your tramping day at 07.00 not great when you parked up at 1700 the night before and have been starting at 0300 /0400 or 0500 all week.

guaranteed the first question on your sixth day of tramping will be “have you got a long day left”.

you make your own mind up.

Yeah I was getting hat problem (parking at 1700, starting next day at 0700 on a night out)with my last employer, That’s what I like about fixed day rate, as I’m on now, if they want you too sit around for 14hrs, that’s fine I’m not out off pocket

So are they “one of the best”?

I once tried to show one their drivers how to strap boards in kronospan. I gave up in the end. He was overpaid in my opinion.

Perhaps they have some drivers that are better than the rest and some drivers that aren’t just like most places I suppose?

What’s kronospan btw?

The only time I have any driving hours(with regard to 90 a fortnight), save for a few hours to run in with on a Saturday morning, is when I’ve had time off that week or the previous week, so how they can have driving hours to work a full shift at the weekend is beyond me. But I notice that they state that you will do every other weekend on there website :unamused:
