I was visiting my folks this weekend, and they happen to live in Fakenham (where I grew up). My dad mentioned to me that there had been a Jack Richards memorial bench fabricated, I had a wander up to the site and took a few pictures.
I was lucky enough to meet Jack on a number of occasions and he was always a true gentleman. So I felt it only appropriate to share these images on the forum.
Nice piece of free company advert…

I don’t think Jack Richards have to advertise in Fakenham.
Nice tribute and a nice piece of workmanship.
Nice to have a memorial I agree, but the small brass plate had to be blown up in the picture to see it so any body from Outer Mongolia visiting Fakenham looking for a transport firm would see the advert first

Do you have to be so cynical?
I never knew or worked for Jack Richards but by all accounts he was liked and respected throughout the industry from the shop floor to the boardroom, few people in this business ever achieve that.
I think the bench would look good wooden and painted yellow like his trucks

I think anybody in Fakenham looking for a transport company would see loads of Bright Yellow truck with Jack Richards written on them before they saw the bench, it could have just been a bench with a plate, but a bench with an image of one of the trucks seem a fitting tribute to a man whose life was haulage and the company that bore his name.
