3 Tacho rolls?

Start at 05.00 do a printout and roll runs out, put in new one now down to 2. Do loads of printouts during the day, get stopped late in day and asked for a printout, and roll runs out part way. In front of DVSA, change roll and you still have a spare

I can’t really see why anyone would need to do so many printouts in one shift that they would use an entire roll but this goes back to my earlier point that they will be the kind of medium-to-large general haulier who make up rules with no basis in logic simply as a means of coercion and control and to remind you that you are there to do as you are told, not to apply common sense.

I was told in a cpc class there is no requirement in number of spare rolls.
As long as you have 1 besides what is in the head unit you’re good.

Exactly. Except for the point at which you put that one in the head unit, you no longer have a spare.
I like 1 in my kit bag, and ‘hopefully’, 1 spare in the cab.

Yep.[emoji106]

I carry 2 in kit bag and replace should I use one.

The only requirement is to provide a printout, when requested to do so.

Exactly what I was told.

1x spare for the tacho head
1x to use as toilet paper if you get caught short
1x to use at night when you haven’t got a spare sock

Northwich depot has always had a terrible reputation around here, although I guess money talks and I’ve noticed improvements in pay the past 12mths, spose they had no choice really.

Don’t forget you get a nice hi Viz once your on the books that states “Driver” on the back … which I always found a bit odd, condescending, derogatory maybe… but then after making the mistake of speaking to a couple at Tesco Magor, I can see why they may need to be reminded what their job role is exactly.

I don’t drive for them either but judging from the skills displayed by their drivers that I see every night you should be able to:

  • ignore all 40 and 50 mph speed limits
  • overtake any and all kinds of vehicles who can’t keep up with your limiter and in the case where not possible to do so make sure to follow them as close as possible to express your annoyance
  • approaching roundabouts brake as late as possible and drive through the roundabout in as straight line and at the highest speed possible
  • avoid use of signals its for the weak and amateurs

Good luck
