I know there was a ‘axor v cf’ topic a while back, but I think I’m going to have a choice between these! I don’t know, the stralis is roomy and with built in fridge etc, but very plasticky, but I think the axor drives better, but is basic. Just for reference the stralis is a 450 and the axor is a 430, what does trucknet think?
Stralis for me because I drive one and they are a very underrated truck. Really nice to drive and comfortable. But the yes the plastic inside is weak prone to breaking. Other than that I can’t really fault it.
I have driven both recently well the Stralis was a eec 460 tbh I as quite impressed with it defo pulls well even up the hills more room than the axor
Plus points with Stralis plenty room very spacious plenty cup holders cab quite well thought out self for a tv with 12v socket next to it behind passenger seat dashboard nice laid out easy reach for everything top bunk folds flat against headboard seat has a lot of movement so can get it in a good driving position plenty cupboard space fridge/cool box ok size for what you need right next to driver seat easy to open next to that another draw under bunk if pulled out made a table if night out has decent curtains cupholders
Lack of 12/24v sockets the 1 I had only had 2 12v plastic the buttons for gears not keen on lack of space to place phone etc
Axor smallish cab not as much play with seat/steering wheel for comfort most controls at easy reach could do with some more 12.24 v sockets but there is more than the Stralis 2 cup holders at top of dash next to each other he there was no top bunk as such was just mesh instead although you could put things on it if you wanted
Lack of space to put things lack of fridge/coolbox
Both pulled about the same mirrors both about the same with vision movement although the Stralis did have heated mirrors where the axor didnt advantage in the rain
After having driver both think I would opt for the Stralis
If they’re both autos, not a lot to choose…my horrible memories of Stralis was no driver control over mid lift so 1/2" of snow will strand you and you have to lift the cab to put oil in, and seeing the heap drank the stuff was a royal PITA.
Axor is more of a drivers lorry IMO, maybe not as roomy as the Fiat but you won’t need to carry 10 rolls of gaffer tape to hold the thing together.
Stralis every time ! Roomy they can bat on a bit too, and to be fair decent on hills !
Can’t believe anyone would honestly opt for an axor, unless doing trolley dolly work !
And I don’t even need to put me tin hat on
Both have got crap brakes ,but they stop you ,i personally like the stralis and think the only good thing about the merc is the seat, ive allways wondered why the rental firms use both ,i know they must be cheap ,but they both must be reliable, the new stralis is supposed to be bang on ,the axor is just a tall thin mess of a lorry

I know it was a long time ago but I had a new MB 1935 V8. J91 reg. In 2 years of being driven day and night it only saw the workshop for tyres and servicing.
1993 and enter an Iveco Eurotech 380. In first week had to have new brakes. 3 weeks later and air tank brackets wore through air bag. 2 months later and new gearbox! 6 months later turbo blew. Every week it was in for something. Same drivers, same work, trunking.
Honestly I was doing 2 or 3 hours a week extra waiting for repairs.
Icing on cake, safety grab handle on back of cab snapped at weld as I was climbing down resulting in back injury (sued and won but rather have not had injury TBH) I was only 12 stone BTW.
So unless Ivecos have made huge improvements I know what I would choose.

I think things have moved on since then, all the italians and spaniards dont buy them for a laugh
At least the bunk was comfy. I had plenty of chance to try it!
I am sure you are right though, they certainly could not be any worse.
Having said that. I went tramping for 2 weeks in an Iveco Turbostar 480. What’s beast that was. Nothing could touch it for pulling power and sound at the time.

I had a eurotech ,it was a real rust bucket and looked shocking, only good thing about it was the cursor engine [had to tip the cab to top the oil up though]went over some speed bumps and the dash fell out ,it was held together with blu tac in the end
