I don’t see there being such an excess difference between prices for leasing the bottom end trucks such as Iveco, Renault, Man. I know a few companies who have got MAN TGA’s on 2 year lease deals. I might be wrong on this but they get a new truck every 2 years if they subscribed to an 8 year lease is what I heard. Not the best of trucks but I think a new one every 2 years is easy to live with for anyone.
Going back to the OP. His 3rd post, do you think he could be an Iveco man (linked to this site throught the sites link with CM) canvassing opinion on what the general drivers perception is regarding Iveco’s and their nearest rivals which would be Renault ? If that be the case then he’s just read about our opinions on DAF’s and MAN’s too !!!
I will say one thing though, the new Iveco cabs on the more upmarket versions to look great. I love that recliner ! I had an Iveco Eurostar when I had my own truck over 12 years ago and apart from the regular maintenance such as clutch going, gearbox going and what seemed to be Iveco’s perpetual problem back then, the wheel bearing seal, the truck was decent enough at the time

I am being offered a blinding deal on a new Iveco, contract hire, or for about £40 more a week I can rent a Renault Premium that’s under a year old. This will be our first venture into this field because we run 26 tonne rigids so I could do with drawing on your experiences. From what I understand the Renault is superior on fuel which considering the mileage it’ll cover on a weekly basis might mean that I end up a lot better in the long run. However I’ve heard from a couple of ‘biased’ people that the Iveco will be better to live in all week in terms of driving, comfort and space?
Can anyone offer any advise?? Cheers all…
Why not do something unique in this industry and ask the guy that will be driving it which one he prefers. After all he’s the one that will be affected by your decision, not us on here
True but you drive what your given if you want choice buy your own truck.
Both trucks would be fine for mulitple nights out many companies use these models for a week away if not weeks away on the continent
Get a quote on a MAN TGX XLX. Loads of room for all week away, very comfy bunk.
Depending on what kind of purchase/lease package you’re after, all manufacturers are currently very very competitive! Reason for this is they’re trying to use up all the euro 5 stock before euro 6 kicks in!
If its short term mileage limited lease you’re after take your pick as dealers are letting good spec models go cheap as long as they’re snickered as opposed to sign written and stay in factory white! This is so they can have a good stock of 12-18 month old euro 5 for those that don’t want their pants pulled down on the more expensive euro 6 models!

I have both albeit now knocking on for then years old, a Stralis 430 and Premium 420dci. The Stralis is better on fuel and vastly superior as a truck to live in it is not at all good if you venture anywhere with poor traction though.
.
The 420dci is the old Renault Premium, with the old drive line. The newer model are much better. Spent many weeks out in Renault Premiums of all versions, obviously not as much room as a top of the range truck, but still managed pretty well. Not had any experience of the Stralis although they do seem to have plenty of room inside.
Personally I’m more worried about how good the job is as opposed to getting the latest top of the range truck, but it’s a bonus if you get both.
