Iveco anyone?

Its a Fiat…

Which make ferraris.

We have some, the drivers reckon they are ok but why would anyone make a tri axle unit without a lift axle ffs.

Amen. Whoever came up with that idea whilst lunching on pasta & chianti needs stoning to death with rotten tomatoes.

they must do different options as mines got steer and lift on the mid :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

And anyone who drives a 1.9 cdti vectra, a saab 1.9 diesel or a alfa romeo diesel will also know that its actually a fiat built engine under the bonnet.

Ive only driven a couple of Ivecos, but i found the drivers seat to be the comfiest ive ever sat on.

'Nuff said!

And that’s what you would say to someone wanting a Ferrari ,it’s a Fiat …

Personally i don’t think there is that much difference between trucks ,they all have their good and bad points, some models in a manufactures ranges will be excellent in the market sector they are aimed at ,and others not .ie their tipper chassis may be good ,but tractor units are bad

Personally i work on DAF ,i like them still reasonably easy to work on ,as access is generally good …

Fiat as a group do build excellent engines…who else at euro 6 is still using only SCR with no EGR, they may have issues like all manufacturers ,though i reckon a fair amount of the dislike is down to badge snobbery

i once did some work in a ferrari garage, and got talking to a mechanic.i asked him which was the best one,to which he replied "theyre all ■■■■ to be honest". he reckoned youd be much better off with a porsche.

With Ferraris the assumption is because they are mega money they are good. They are superb at looking good but not that great underneath. It’s the same with motorbikes. Buy Italian if you want to look at it. Buy something else if you want it to work properly… :grimacing:

Hmmm, might explain why Ferraris are in general pretty unreliable and require a huge amount of folding stuff to keep them running…

i agree…there were a couple of cars on ramps, and when you got up close you could see that they were poorly made…certainly not a car you could use every day.
and as a former ducati owner,i agree with you on the bike score aswell :imp: …nice when they`re new…but get ready as soon as the warranty ends…kerching :smiling_imp:

its all down to how drivers treat them really!! ive got a 04 stralis and think the only thing thats broken in cab is the little flap on drivers door and well its still there but stuck down with silicone!! good truck to drive and seats are bout best in class to sit in!! its all down to badge snobbery cos well ive driven scanias and well in my opinion they are uncomfortable to sit in

The delay in the throttle pedal is hilarious as well and once they get a few years and clicks on them, the rattles and creaks eminating from all points is annoying, the one thing i’ll give you is the engines are reliable apart from the odd injector.

The quality of build leave lot to be desired, but if you got a good one, it’s a nice one to drive. I used to drive an 18ton Eurocargo and I really enjoyed it.

Recently I had one shift on hired Iveco 7.5 tonner. It was brand new with auto gearbox and it was so crap that I could not believe in it.

First, there was something with electric system, that in mid shift left indicator got “stuck” in on position. The other were working fine, just the side one was constantly on, and when I was using left indicator, this annoying buzzer was constantly on.

Second, there was some glitch with auto gearbox: it was just going to neutral itself for no apparent reason. I then hed press button again to be able to drive again.

And at the end of the shift one of the switches on the dashboard broke.

And now the best bit: at the beginning of my shift, the van had 290 miles on the clock. Yes, not 29000, not 290 000. 290.

I guess it was some very unlucky one, as recently I had another shift on X reg iveco and it was in very good condition. But you can see the quality of plastic deteriorated.

In a place where we work we have mostly sprinters but we used to have one Iveco Daily. Sprinters constantly have some stupid problems, mostly with electronic and barely made it to 400 000 (I guess due to crap maintenance, as I know places where people do 1200000 kms and more on them easily). But Iveco used under the same conditions made it to around 380 000 before we got rid of it. Driving it was a nightmare, the wind up handle for the window, and the ball at the end of the gear stick was falling of, radio was not contacting, the speedo was going crazy, everything vibrated and made crazy noises (IVECO: It Vibrates, Everything Comes Off seems to be true in that particular case) but it was driving as a rocket.

So in my view: nice design, nice to drive, poorly made.

With regards to the build quality issues on Ivecos, from what I have read in the mags recently, the new Stralis Hi-Way doesn’t suffer from the same issues. Hopefuly it’s true cos it’s the only thing that spoils it for them at the moment.

You will have the opportunity soon to take a look at or even drive the Stralis Hi-Way, and make your own minds up as to wether the criticisms have been addressed

More details will be released on Biglorryblog, the Iveco Stralis roadshow facebook page and on here nearer the time and date of each venue

I’d choose one over a Scania or Volvo any day.

Not snobbery with me 'cos I’m not that keen on Scanias, their ergonomics are appalling!! And I agree, Scanny seats are not the best…. Personally, I’ve found the Renault Premium fairly comfy (yes I know!), but then the older one I drove was poorer, so reckon it depends which model you get.

Do the new ones from the higher range still have that annoying sound of indicators:

?

I see they still have that stupid push button operated exhaust brake on the floor! And those pillars on the doors! Not much of an update for 2013!
