Can anybody help me please?
I’m planning a model project and can recall an advert from the late 1970’s/early 80’s with an Iveco or Fiat with it’s front wheels in the air as a large slab of marble is winched on the back. I’ve found some similar shots but can not find this advert. I’m sure it was used in the UK magazines. It would really help me if someone can post a copy of this advert. I’ve looked in Scrapbook Memories to no avail.
Thanks in advance.
Tim
I’ve hoovered about in cyberspace for you, but can’t find the advert you want. I have, however, found 3 pictures to inspire you (I hope). Happy New Year! Robert
Thanks Robert. I found one from the other side, of that orange Iveco model! That’s pretty much what I have in-mind, but with an MAN F2000.
I found that Iveco advert too - it’s the only one which comes up. It’s odd, as I thought the one with the wheels in the air was an iconic 70’s advert - I’m amazed that it’s not floating around the Internet somewhere.
Many thanks though.
Wasnt it an article in an old Truck mag, Maybe early 90’s. I seam to remember it as a cover picture one month
A friend of mine said that there was something in ‘Supertruck’. I have a number of those but can’t recall it.
supertruck would be my guess too,its a single page ad like the model truck.

I seem to recall that there has been a few articles in the mags. over the years some were about the marble and others were about the tortures roads to access these quarries. Eddie.
My first thoughts were that the article was in Supertruck too.
Lots of us have seen the lorries in action too, having loaded marble out of Italy, although it was in the yards at the bottom of the mountains.
They use Astra trucks now, which, like most things in Italy are owned by FIAT.
Im sure on the Astran / Middle east drivers thread there was a pic of a Tonka with its front wheels up and god knows how many ton of something in the back!
The ancient Iranian art of counterbalancing!

how inspiring is this one then?

Hi bullitt ,it was a photo I took in my rear view mirror going up Bolu Mountain in turkey in the late seventies. He had sheet steel on the back that had slipped as he changed down the gears. Regards Jamie.

Not exactly what I was after - but something different, none the less. Maybe I should do a model of that, instead.
